I don't see how the Cowboys possibly let him go and i seems no matter how many times Jones says he's staying, the subject keeps coming up.

1) Owens' bonus is a pittance considering the NFL's current cap - heck Gurode just got $10 million?!?!

2) Despite the baggage, the guy is still a top receiver in the NFL. Despite having just a "good" season, I think he led the NFL is TD's for a receiver.

3) The Cowboys don't have a viable replacement.

4) There isn't anyone better entering free agency. In fact, this years' is a weak crop of receivers

5) Even if Dallas did draft a receiver, they typically take a year or two to get up to speed with the NFL game

I take Jerry Jones at his word and think that Owens will be back in a Cowboys uniform next year.

The only wr I would trade for is Calvin Johnson but it will take too much too trade up to get him.

Regardless of TO staying or going, we need to draft a WR. We are way too long in the tooth in that area. Crayton is a solid 3, possibly a 2, but we need to draft a young stud to solidify the position and then next year we will be better prepared when TO and/or Glenn drop off significantly or are gone.

If we lose any of our top 3 WRs, we have to get a WR in the first or second rounds. Also a big need is CB, as Glenn can't play forever. Maybe we take Bowe from LSU, I like him. I wouldn't be down on Watkins too much. He was terrible, but he was also getting better, and not getting toasted nearly so much in the stretch. Maybe that's because teams could toss it underneath and get 12 yards against our LBs in Dec., but still....he improved, and is a pretty nice physical specimen.

If we were going to do something about FS, it should have been last year. At this point, Watkins is the future there.

I agree with this. I think Pat Watkins has a chance to be a player. Let's let Wade work with him before writing him off.

I wouldn't say he is horrible. Sure he had some big plays on him but he was a rookie.( Our whole D gave up big plays last year.) Also Phillips' system may make all these guys look better. The jury is still out on Watkins, but I'm not ready to throw him under the bus just yet.

Nothing will make the secondary look better quite like more pressure. With Wade's sytem, that's just about guaranteed. Watkins did struggle BADLY early in the year (which is what was said earlier...ie the Giants game at Dallas) but down the stretch he was not getting his name called in a bad way. Granted, he wasn't really making many plays, but he was making improvement. There's no reason to give up on a guy that got better as the season went along and has Watkins physical qualifications.

I think Bowe would be a pretty sweet choice for us at 22. Or Daymeion Hughes.

Pressure will make everyone in that secondary look better. You are right about Watkin's physical qualifications. That guy is a freak.

If we get Bowe or Hughes at 22, I will be ecstatic.

As much as i hate to admit it.....T.G. or Terry Glenn was a beast in the preseason while T.O. was do his lance armstrong inpersonations....let the cancer go and he will spread to the rest of the league...get him out of the nfc east.....and before i get the expected "you just dont want him playing your birds"...I actually like him dropping balls because he's afraid of getting hit by my back up strong safety(lewis) and I had fun watching drop that perfect bomb thrown by slippery mits when he had dawkins beat deep
