If Wade is going to be fired this season, it will happen next week

..if we lose to the Giants.

I know people have been asking for it after seemingly every loss this season, but I think realistically if we go out Monday night on national TV at Jerry's house and lay another egg, drop to 1-5 and unofficially put ourselves out of the Division and Playoff race, Jerry is going to be so embarrassed he'll have to make the move to Garrett at that point.

If he was going to get fired, it was the game before the bye. Now...we are stuck with him the rest of the season IMO.

Won't happen this season.

Jerry is going to give Garrett every opportunity to have success here and giving him the job now doesn't give him that.

won't happen in season, and certainly not on a short week. What difference does it make, they get a new head coach that comes in and coaches the same stupid players.

The only way things will change in Dallas would be if Jerry finally sets his ego aside & either hires a quality HC who will have max authority or Jerry steps upstrairs and installs Stephen who would immediately hire a real GM & let the GM do his job. Stephen has repeatedly said he has no desire to be a GM, etc.

Do I think the above will happen? Odds are against it. Jerry's ego is all consuming & he will not admit he's not a good GM. The only thing that will change his view is if he finds big dropoff in attendance and/or interest in the Cowboys & Cowboy sponsors jumping ship. then, and only then, will he see the handwriting on the wall.

It doesn't matter if WP gets fired now or end of season as long as Jerry Jones continue to undermines HC with his "Open Door" policy. :bang2:

Watch his post game PC. He's a defeated man if there ever was one.

I was hoping to see a headline that read "Phillips Canned" this morning, but alas, it was not meant to be I guess.

Anyway, I think at 1-4 Jerry wil stick with Wade another week. However, if they go 1-5 I think he has to make a move. At 1-5 there will not be any great expectations for this team from the fans or the media. Which is a prime time to give Garrett a shot at the job.

It will not happen during the season. We could go 1-15 and it will not happen during the season.

Wade isn't going anywhere. It's a little to late. Nothing good can come from firing him now. (unless it means grabbing the best coach on the market now, which I doubt will happen anyhow)

Better just sit back and let the season happen. The most games we lose, the better draft pick we get.

The only think I do hope is that that our draft pick isn't in the top 5. (unless they implement the rookie salary cap after the season)

Well Jerry was supposed to keep T.O. Stephen talked him into doing otherwise.

If Stephen see's that the HC no longer has this teams ear than he'll have enough reasoning to attempt to talk Wade out of the job.

Stephen would then have to prove that Red would have the players ear, don't know how that he could do that. As well, he would have to prove that there is someone who could call the defensive plays as or more effectively. Don't know if he could do that.

This all of course would have to improve game play on game days. That's the issue here just as much as Phillips being paid out for the next 3 years.

So ultimately, Jerry is not going to come to this decision on his own unless someone who's word holds a lot of weight like Stephens reaches his ear.

Or the ugly...... People just don't watch the games on TV, merchandising & vending takes a good drop, fans leave games really early and the worst...... Ticket sales take a dump.

Not gonna happen. Enjoy Wade Phillips & Red. Maybe even more than just this season. Possibly Red after this season.

The bye week came at a good time for Wade: too early in the season for him to be fired.

But if this team continues to lose over the next several consecutive weeks, I could see Jerry ending Wade's season early. It could get that miserable.

Remember, Jerry doesn't have to pick next year's head coach when he fires Wade.

Jerry could name Garrett or even Campo as an interim, and then Jerry could take his sweet time once again - wringing his hands for the cameras and showing how hard he's thinking about things - before deciding on who to name as the coach for next season.

They will keep Wade until January. This is gonna be one ugly finish to the season :laugh2:

Wade won't be fired next week. I agree with the consensus here. I thought otherwise until very recently but it's obvious that embarrassing losses don't matter to Jerry regarding coaching and bottom line I think it's about the money at this point with Jerry.

He doesn't give a rat's behind what the fans think. I'm convinced of that.

It doesn't matter if Wade is fired or not....the problem with this organization is with Jerry Jones. Every since Jerry decided that he knew more about hiring and drafting players, this team has been a disaster. All the players know, Jerry's in charge, not wade...

All the Jerry backers with their, he does whatever it takes to win...yeah right, keep believing that, Jerry is the guy running this circus, the blame for this team and organization begins and ends with him....As long as he's in charge, this team is going nowhere.

All you need to know about this team was the playoff game against these same vikes last year. The O-line was a disaster. Unlike Philly, who recognized that they needed to make whole sale chanages with their team after losing the final two games last year to these same cowboys, they bit the bullet and made the changes, Dallas with Jerry leading the show stayed pat after the viking playoff game, and this is what you get.

I agree. I'm done defending Jerry. Norm Hitzges was talking this am on his show about how when Wade has wanted to instill some authority and come down on some guys that Jerry has vetoed that. So we have what we have now. I use to also think Jerry could just pull out his checkbook and get any coach here. I don't believe that anymore either. It's a joke. I had my head in the sand for way too long regarding Jerry.

Didn't factor in the short week, you're right about that.

I don't agree with people saying it would never happen during the season though. I think you people are underestimating what Jerry could possibly do when he gets desperate. This is different than riding out 2002 with Campo - Jerry had EVERYTHING riding on this season. He had wet dreams at night about the Cowboys playing the Super Bowl in his stadium. It's going to be years before we get the Superbowl in Arlington again.
