If we had 4-3 defense...

What is this 4-3 defense you speak of?

I've never before heard it mentioned on this board.

It wouldn't be any different from what we see now. People like to claim there's some real difference between our 3-4 and a 4-3, but there isn't. We're a 3-4 because Ware typically doesn't put his hand on the ground. If he did, we'd be a 4-3. Ware may be labeled a linebacker on the roster, but there is effectively no difference between him and a 4-3 end.

OH CRAP!!!

Well, at least now I have conclusive proof. The worst is not knowing. :p:

it would be pretty much the same as it is now, except spears would probably slide in there as a DT.. Carter could be the strong side outside line backer with Spencer on the weak side and Lee in the middle, I at time wish we went back to the 4-3 although we are more suited for the 3-4, despite what some of these guys posted the 4-3 does have different concepts then the 3-4 with different techniques...

Hey OP I will answer your question since no one else will

DEs will be Spencer and Ware
DTs will be Ratliff and Spears with Hatcher, Crrawford, brent, and Lessimore rotate in.
SOLB will be Connor
ILB will be Lee
WOLB will be Carter
CB and safeties will be the same

I don't know if I would put Ware on the line. I might keep him as a Will backer. But still use him in lots of blitz packages. Kind of like the Giants used LT.

DE-Spencer-Crawford
DT-Ratliff-Spears
LB Ware-Lee-Carter

I'd kick spencer inside and put another rusher at end

I don't think it's that simple. We've spent years acquiring talent to run a 3-4. Ware is so good and versatile that he could move to 4-3 DE, but I don't think Spencer would be able to, so we would have to draft or sign or trade for a new 4-3 DE. We would have a surplus of 4-3 DTs so we would probably get rid of a few of them. We would probably be real short at LB since we're used to only having 2 ILBs in the 3-4. We would have to acquire a few more 4-3 LBs and we would have to get specific players since the roles are a little different. It would take a few years to acquire the talent to completely switch to a full-time 4-3. It's not so easy to just switch defenses.
