If we had to take a 2nd round loss, what would you prefer?

What is better; 2nd Rd loss following (1) 1st Rd bye or (2) a wildcard win?

I want to win every game and then a Super Bowl.
But assuming that doesn't happen but we do have a better season than in recent years, what scenario would you prefer if the season had to end in the 2nd round of the playoffs?

I want NFC Championship game win or lose to me that would be great progress for this team. Losing in the divisional round either way is not enough

A playoff win would be nice, not sure anything changes with winning the division at, lets say, 9-7 with an early exit with no post-season win.

Based off the two you're presenting then I'd rather be the wild card and win a first round game. That to me just feels and seems better than getting the division and losing our first playoff game.

I always thought the 2009 season was far better than the 2007 season. Maybe that was just me but I certainly enjoyed the later far more.

That'd be nice. It's not out of the question if the o-line improves.

If you didn't know the result of the rd 2 game, would you prefer that we got a 1st round bye or that we would win a wild card game?

Part of the reason I ask it is because it seems that wildcard wins count more to many than 1st round byes---to me they are pretty much equal. And no, my name isn't Wade.

However given the wrath that this team (and Romo) gets for a playoff loss compared to any kind of credit for a 1st round bye, in this particular case, I would want a wild card win.
Seems silly, because most teams want a week extra to heal, but in our case the psychology of the win may be big.

But yeah, in either case, it would show inprovement but would be bittersweet at best to go out before the division champ game.

I just think losing in the divisional rd even if you win wildcard weekend will leave a bitter taste in alot of peoples mouth.

Given the choices I'll take a win in the playoffs even if it just a wild card game. Too many focus on just winning in January that would shut a few of them up.

I'd much prefer a win and a loss. 1-1 is better than 0-1 any day.

The 2009 season is considered by many people to be a successful year even though the Cowboys got crushed 34-3 by Minnesota in the divisional playoffs. The 2007 season, when Dallas lost to New York, isn't.

Any scenario that would involve a playoff win would signify improvement and a clear step in the right direction.

Make playoffs, must win a game. Making it and losing will be unacceptable, and then we have another off season of the Romo haters, even if it's not his doing.
Rather that loss is in a Divisional game, or NFC championship game, doesn't matter.

NFC Championship loss for me. But I suppose I would settle for a wildcard win. I don't think I could take another great team with a bye and then lose again.

Doesn't matter to me. It's all the same. You got eliminated in the 2nd round.

Yeah, if you think about it that way, but for some (like myself ) that have only seen the Cowboys win 1 playoff game in my existence (im 22), i sure as hell would like to see another playoff win. But thats just me.

That's fair.

On the flip side, when you've seen this team at the top, wild card wins don't mean much to you.

I agree although I think that the perception is a little funny with that scenario. I include myself in this as well. You'd think we'd all rather win the division right? But the trade off in ending another season without a playoff win outweighs it... Even if that shouldn't logically be the case. In my opinion, this is at least partly shaped by what we take in from the media and from each other. The "one playoff win in 17 years" catchphrase has gotten kinda tiresome. Bad bad as getting knocked out in the second playoff game would be, at least we'd have the silver lining of that dead horse going away.

exactly my head tells me winning the division is better but my heart wants a playoff win even if we get stopped in the 2nd round
