If we win tomorrow, we will be a better team than I thought we were, and I'd think that we'd have a good chance at getting deep into the post season. If we lose tomorrow then it's anyone's guess as to how good we really are. A team that cant win a playoff-like game at home is unlikely to win 3 in a row on the road.

So the game matters, big time.

With all of this on the line, if we cant beat an Eagles team that we already beat on the road, in front of over 100,000 of our screaming fans, on national TV..............then we are doing jack in the playoffs.

There could be an argument that playing the Cards AT Arizona could be better than playing the Iggles back to back weeks even if it's at home.(of course you want to win the divison though)

I want to reply this post, before I read any other replies:

I am 32 years old, and have been a Cowboy fan ALL MY DAMN LIFE and I will continue to be one, even if I don't get to see another superbowl win in my lifetime.

However, I think we all need to respect others points of views.... I have noticed that many of you guys don't stand when people criticize Romo or Wade, and you jump all over them calling them haters or trolls.

I am sure we all want our Cowboys to win, but I do not think that this "team" and the current coaching staff can take us back to Glory. I stand VERY firm, in my personal belief that Wade Phillips IS NOT THE COACH that we need. There are Coaches, just as players that never give that "next step" I think Phillips is that case. He has NOT ONCE YET, proven to be a successful HEAD COACH. He failed in Buffalo and he is not going not make an "Era" here. In my personal opinion the ONLY reason he has lasted this long, is because he has a VERY GOOD team around him, with more talent unlike previous coaches like Campo, Baily, and even Switzer.

I personally think that tomorrow it will ve a VERY VERY VERY close game, and hate me, bash me.. but I think that tomorrow ONCE GAIN, when we need to win the most.... the eagles will win. We will get into the playoffs, do nothing and hopefully we will get a new HC that will lead this team to greatness.

Today feels like a very big game for this team. And I agree with jackrussell on its implications.

Although I am not terribly vocal here, I remain doubtful about this team. Darkhound articulates my feelings on Wade as well.

We'll see.

The only way I see a loss as not devastating is if they go out, play a very good all-around game, but lose anyway, maybe on a fluke play or two and some blown calls.

Jerry already said he considers this a playoff game, so right there all to tell anybody all they need to know about the game today. This talk that it is not that big of a game is just loser talk trying to make excuses for a possible loss before the dam game is even played.

You might take a page from Jimmy Johnson's playbook. Jimmy ALWAYS talked in positive terms about his team because he wanted them thinking in positive terms. His thinking was that if you planted positive thoughts in the players heads those thoughts would manifest themselves in positive actions. Of course the opposite was true also. Negative comments would result in negative thinking.

Point being. Why even bring this up? You yourself have injected these negative thoughts into the most collectively positive time I have seen here in my short time.

Personally I think you doth protest to much. As much as you say you don't want to see the board revert it appears that you really do love the drama.

Why else would you want to start a thread like this?

Depends on how we lose.

If we lose it on the field with players fumbling or missing tackles, there's no reason to go epic...no reason to blame the coaches...plenty of reason to face the facts that we're a team on the rise and that we still need some better players. I do not want to see MBIII continue his fumbling problem.

However, if we lose because be blitz too much and the secondary gets burned when the blitzes don't get there or we lose because of stupid Garrett calls in critical situations, then I expect plenty of epic meltdowns about the coaching staff and Jerry Jones, along with plenty of calls for Cowher or Shannahan, despite the fact that fans would never wait as long as Denver and Pittsburgh waited for either of those guys to win a SB.

Let's be fair, it depends. Let's add some caveats. If we lose today on a wide-right field goal, if the game is respectable and the team loses then there won't be a meltdown.

However, if we sustain a major injury, if we get completely steamrolled, if we get outplayed and out-coached, then there will be some griping here.

Anyway, I'm not too concerned, I'm feeling unusually optimistic about the game today. GO COWBOYS!

That's the nature of football - the emotion it brings out in fans. At the end of the game, it needs an outlet and partially that is what this board is for. We are our own support group for our Cowboys addiction - not that we would ever consider an intervention.

Within a couple of days, most of us have calmed down and are thinking about what went wrong, how to get better, etc. As many have said, the guys on the other side of the field are also highly skilled professional football players so they are going to beat you some of the time.

The reason why I like our chances is Wade has been so good as a DC since he took over.

Actually, this should be about the most stress-free game of the year. If we win, great, we beat my most hated team in the league. But if we don't, we're still in the playoffs, and I think we can beat anyone in the NFC even on the road. This team has basically already played a couple of playoff games when they beat the Saints and even Skins, so a loss today won't "prove" anything too negative about them.
