LOL LOL........So you saying no team will be happy with a 12-5 record and playoff?????? Is that what you are saying? Help me here
I don’t believe any team would be happy being literally the only team in the history of the NFL with 3 straight 12 wins seasons and not making the conference championship.

You can bang your chest at the 12 win regular season parade, but I’ll sit that out.

Apparently your ceiling for this team is nothing more than regular season records and an occasional playoff appearance. Some of us actually want the team to aim higher. Do you see teams like Philthy sitting on their thumbs, content with regular season accomplishments? Nope, they're constantly churning their roster striving for more. SF isn't on the verge of another super bowl by taking the Jerry Jones approach, neither is KC, Baltimore, or Buffalo. Even GB isn't satisfied.

But you be you. Go bow down and pray to your 12-5 NFCE championship banner.

I'm not surprised you refuse to answer the question.......but I think understand what you are trying to say in the OP. It's just not realistic and frankly not true to say there has to be a "complete failure", not sure just a playoff-embarrassing. It makes little or no sense.......

Fans like that just want their team to compete.

Winning is just a bonus.

Who said this is my ceiling????? I certainly didn't but I understand you have NO Chance at a Super Bowl w/o a winning record and playoff appearance. Accomplish that, and go from there........NO Coach goes into a season thinking he's going take his team to the Super Bowl. So please don't tell me what my standards are coz you don't know.

I’ve never denied that.

I’m not going to give Dak and others passes just because Jerry is fooled by them enough to pay em stupid money though.
Thats fine. But that isnt even the problem.

The problem is this team and every previous team thinks teams will lay down for them because of the star on their helmet. That is the culture Jerry has instilled.

Get ready for Groundhog Day unfortunately. It will be more shocking they do anything at this point. We're going to have to deal with it one more season at least because MM has a year left and Dak's contract is probably too handicapping to the FO to punt it. It's already evident what is going to happen. We are 3 days out. Needs to happen (clean out) but it won't.

I think even Jerry with his sunny disposition is shaken by the most embarrassing loss in Cowboy history. We got out schemed on both sides of the ball so badly. MM says the team wasnt ready play. I mean , how is that not his fault ? Our best players didn’t show up. There is no way someone doesn’t lose their job on the coaching staff. I don’t know how you can justify an extension for Dak either. He has struggled all year against anyone good and is incapable of adapting when what he wants to do isn’t working. Something has to change or there is no way this team as coached and constructed can move forward.

No. Complete failure nets high draft picks and culture/regime change. This is right in Jerry's wheelhouse. This is where he's able to sell the ketchup popsicle to the weak minded. "We're just a couple players away and Dak will be good enough to take us all the way."

This was a huge success in Jerry world.

This, because at 12-5, he can keep selling the base on how close we are and they keep buying it and merchandise. Which leads the Clampett family right back to the bank. Ching Ching cash cow and not selling.

Even if he's shaken to the core I still don't trust him to make the hard decisions that need to be made. And we all know he won't. He will go right back to Jerry the salesman mode and try to tell everyone how great of a job MM is doing and pimp Dak by telling everyone how close he is to being the new Tom Brady

Damn dude......you understand what you are saying? Over half, if not most owners, GMs, coaches and players would be very happy with this. ey Why......they'll take the odds that if they can get to the playoff every year, they will eventually get a win or two. That's certainly better than losing...
I do agree when you settle the emotion of the playoff losses.......MM and Dak have been consistently winning. Just not enough to meet the standards and expectations fans/media been waiting 25+ years.
And yet, here, we make the playoffs and have only 5 playoff wins total in 25+ years.

It's not bad luck. Something is broken with this franchise. And it starts with the bumbling old fool who owns the team.

Non serious teams might be fine with that. But don't hold yourself up as one of the premium franchises in the NFL and then turn around and exult yourself for winning some regular season games and then getting bounced early in the playoffs over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

Serious teams don't just sit around and keep doing the same thing over and over like we do. Until Jerry wakes up and realizes he's the issue here, I don't consider him to be serious about winning at the highest level at this point in his career. Because if he were serious, he'd get a real GM in here, he'd give up more control and he'd let real football people make the majority of the football decisions.

He fancies himself a high level GM. He's not. Jerry Jones is the richest fantasy football owner in America. That's what he is.

I’ve said it for years.

The only way Jerry is going to move on from guys like McCarthy and Dak is by complete failure.

I don’t mean an embarrassing loss in the playoffs as the #2 seed either.

I’m talking about not even making the playoffs at all. I’m talking about the locker room imploding. I’m talking about the players that actually want to succeed turning on the ones that are happy to just be there.

There needs to be a spilt in that locker room. The guys that schedule victory parties before games need to be put in their place by the guys that put their heads down and go to work every week.

Maybe the loser mentalities outnumber the winning ones inside the star, regardless those that want to succeed need to step up and stop letting losers dictate their success.

This needs to happen because Jerry is perfectly happy going 12-5 and losing in the playoffs.
If they run it back expect the Cowboys and anything associated with the Franchise to take a major hit.
The clock is ticking Jerry do you have the cajones???

agree the MM and Dak combo won't win a SB or even reach a CCG.
Was wondering maybe it is better for jerry to run it again and see the dismal results again , maybe this way he will have a reality shock and finally relinquishes his kamakazee approach and starts listening to experts. wishful thinking but could be the shock jerry needs .

All I'm saying is if you are consistently ( every year ) winning with a 12-5 record and playoff appearance, you are doing some things right. Is it enough.......no! Not until you win the Super Bowl. That missing margin could very be Jerry and Stephen and the way they run the team. My point is there are no easy answers that are going to guarantee a Super Bowl. Winning records and playoffs, yes, but not Super Bowls. Trust me, I'm not defending Jerry, MM or Dak coz I agree something needs to change.
