How would you feel about a linebacking corps with Ware and Adalius Thomas on the outside with Carpenter and Ayodele in the middle? Given Thomas' versatility we can nline him up in different positions occasionaly and put Carpenter on the outside, giving us a new wrinkle to confuse offenses.

Ware and Carpenter will be under their rookie contracts for the next 4-5 years. Those contracts are tiny.

James's contract (other than the signing bonus) isn't that big at all.

Ayodele's hangs around $2.5 MM for the next several years.

Over the next 2 years between James (~$1.6 MM), Ware (~$.75MM), Ayodele (~$2.5MM), Carpenter (~$.5MM), and Burnett (~$.5MM), we're looking at averaging about $5-6 MM per year in base salaries.

We in no way have too much money tied up in the linebacker position.

Sometimes you just have to say who cares about the money. The only thing that is important is making the team better. Thomas would bring tremendous versitility to the defense, if only we had someone who could take advantage of it.

I like what I saw from Carp outside yesterday -- he'll be a bit stronger next year and better able to fight OTs.

I think that if we bring in a MLB to play on passing downs instead of James then we'll have something. Bradie can be a very good run defender but his coverage is poor.
