Lets have a little fun. For all the Owner/GM types around here (that's all of us), hearken back to the visionary wisdom of the owner who gave Tom Landry a 10 year contract at a time when some wondered if he should even be the coach in Dallas.

My question for you is this. If you had the authority and money to bring ANY HEAD COACH OF YOUR CHOOSING to Dallas, but you had to give him a 10 YEAR contract to do it.

That is:

1. You would have to give him a 10 year guarantee
2. But.... you could definitely secure him with that guarantee

A. WOULD YOU MAKE SUCH A DEAL?
B. IF YOU WOULD MAKE SUCH A DEAL - WHO WOULD YOU SPEND THAT CONTRACT ON?

Do you think there is a coach out there who is worth a 10 year deal these days, and someone you would stake your legacy on if you were the owner/gm of the Dallas Cowboys?

This will bring a lot of Jimmy Johnson answers I'll bet.

The only way Jimmy would be worth that deal is if you were willing to pay 10 years of salary for 3 years of coaching. No way Jimmy is ever coming back (in my opinion). In addition, Jimmy never had the personality for a long tenure.

Jimmy is a bit old to expect a strong 10 years from him as HC at this stage. I mean, it's been done before but I cant imagine Jimmy would even have the desire to coach for that long again.

My pick for 10 years would be Jeff Fisher.

I wouldn't give a ten year guarantee but if I had to I would get Cowher. I'm assuming of who is available. The obvious answer is Belicheat if you're talking about getting anyone.

Jimmy Johnson is 67 years old right now. Would we really want him to coach until age 77?

If I could have anyone who is active it would be Fisher. His players will go to war for him.

I don't see Jerry pulling a Murch.

I wouldn't mind seeing Garrett getting a fair chance in Dallas.

I know this sounds crazy, but if I knew I could get him for 10 years, so that the team would know he's in charge and not going anywhere, I think Nick Saban would do a good job. Like him or not he has done well anywhere he has stayed awhile.

I think Nick Saban is a heckuva coach. But I believe there is a reason he left the Dolphins to go back to college. He's better suited for college football.

Jason Garrett.

Someone brought it up a day or so ago about Jason Garrett and how he'd make a good HC for the Cowboys. Reason being, he quarterbacked under Jimmy Johnson, saw first hand how Johnson handled his business with the players. Jimmy was hard on them, but knew how to get the best out of each individual while doing it.

I think Jason might have that same mentality.

For the life of me, I still don't see the fascination some have with Jason Garrett.

I'd never give anyone a 10 year deal, the fans would crucify me and I would committ a bad act to myself if I had to endure more than 4 years of bad football.

Same goes for GM. I'd never have a GM on my staff that long who wasn't producing. :) (sorry, couldn't help myself, hehe)

I'm the opposite. I don't see the fascination some have with bashing the guy.
