Read this! http://www.wfaa.com/sports/football...nues-to-Ignore-the-Percentages-229559651.html

The advanced stats say that even punting would have been a better call than kicking that last field goal after the Tyron hold.

Going for it on 4th is the best call. And Garrett does this all the time -- he needs to be more agressive when we are at about the 35 and it's fourth down. Don't punt. Don't kick the field goal. Go for it.

We kicked two field goals of 53 yards this last week. If we only get one of the conversions but go on to get a TD, we are still tied. If we get the last series conversion, game over.

Garrett really needs to read this article. You'd think a Stanford guy would like math

Honestly, the way our defense was playing that day, I would really consider going for it. I know it would go against the grain. But heck, Jimmy has done it many times before. Jimmy played to win at all cost. Garrett plays to NOT LOSE. Thus is decisions are based on that philosophy.

I have no problem with the 53 yard FG attempts (with Bailey being our Kicker), but I agree... at the end of the game going for it or punting it were the best options.

But what screwed us the most was that holding by Smith. Just a plain STUPID play on his part. He's been playing excellent all season so I don't think he deserves an over abundance of criticism, but that holding pretty much lost us the game.

Holding can be called on every play..blame our great coach for not taking a knee On three consecutive plays!!!

Why do you people continue to defend this inept moron ???

Hes not the one screwing up on the field. I wouldnt care if he got fired either. Why do you hate a man you dont even know?
Guess what, he has absolutely no idea who you are. Jerry Jones doesnt care about you.
No one single Dallas Cowboy would care if anything happened to you. Worry about things in life that matter.
I want them to win... But Im not about to get all worked up and cry about it. Especially when noone who matters will bother to listen.
You can take your "you people" comment and put it your special place.

People here think that taking a knee is a bad call. Yet oakland it did yesterday with 1:24 left on the clock. Similar situation which ended up with no holding call and time running out for the Steelers. If we had followed that same idea, there would have been no foul for holding or even giving the refs the chance to call a hold.

Everyone knows Garrett and what he is to the Cowboys. I frankly think he is the reason why were so mediocre and average. Not to throw gasoline at this subject but to put blame on the entire team and not the head coach is wrong and I disagree. Garrett should get the brunt of the blame for what happen yesterday. It was an epic failure which culminated into a lost during crunch time.

Yeah, I guess so.
Really hard to point out any fantastic coaching from any of the main guys. Also, Marinelli is getting a heap of love. I understand hes got so no names he is working with but have they really been that impressive?

Is this article suggesting this information could have been available to Garrett within the time span between third and fourth down? Because it's laughable to suggest that someone could intuitively make a decision based on the small difference between those odds. It's not like he had 4 to a royal flush in video poker and tossed it out for two kings...

I hate JG for dropping those passes.
I hate JG for those missed tackles

about a dozen different players "blew it" too

Yep. Even Stockton and Billick agreed that Garrett should trust in his kicker and go for the 3 points. Which he did. It's not his fault that we could not get any pressure from our front four during the Lions final possession. Heck, we didn't get any pressure on Stafford whatsoever. One sack by Hatcher? No wonder Calvin had a career day. Stafford had all day.

What I noticed about Garrett is that he doesn't have the control that Jimmy or even Parcells has over the team. Thats his downfall. The team likes him and respects him. But they aren't afraid of him. If Parcells saw how bad Romo was playing yesterday I think he would have yanked him. If Jimmy saw how Tanner took the ball to the outside and risk disaster such as a fumble or even running out of bounds, he would have chewed his ***. Heck, as a coach I would never have Tanner run with the ball during crunch time. Both Jimmy and Parcells knew what he had in his players to do the right thing. If not, there was consequences.

Honestly I dont think either of them woulda yanked Romo in favor of Orton or chewed out a RB for doing nothing wrong.

In todays presser...Garrett hinted at the play when holding was called but stopped short of "singling out a player". Who ran the ball that play? Tanner, wasnt it? He was asked about the play call/design and thats when he said (paraphrase)... We dont like to call out any player, but yes that play we wanted it to stay inside, get what you can going north south and not bouncing it outside.

But...as he points this out today, I quickly am thinking...well isnt that coaching? Was this kid told to not go outside?
