If you have to tag Dak, do you take Fields at 10?

Some show Fields sliding a bit. Then there is also the slight possibility of Lance sliding as well.

Would you take 1 of those 2 ?

If the cowboys don’t sign Dak long term.

And if Mike McCarthy thinks he can develop
Fields or Lance into a star.

Then yes I think they should draft them at 10.

We did hire a super bowl winning head coach. Who has a track record of helping to develop QB’s.

trust his knowledge. Let him be the one to have a big say. Whether that is signing Dak or drafting a guy.

I would not touch fields really not convinced he will produce at this level. But yes if a tag was placed on Dak then I would change direction in draft at QB with the 1st pick.

Fields was so impressive versus Florida. Honestly have not watch him much but he is a tough kid and he played really well that day, even after being nailed in the back. The kid showed me a lot that day.

I'd say there's a much higher chance of Lance being there at 10 than Fields.

But yes, I'd consider taking Fields at 10

He is impressive at times but also gets very streaky in his play. Being at OSU who is loaded talent wise on both sides of the ball they come in with a great advantage in most games they play but when I isolate on Fields I don't know, just not convinced he will make a big impact.

Film shows that Fields has zero ability to scan the field. He drops back, and if his first look isn't open, he takes off every time.

That's not an NFL quarterback. He's got far too much to learn to draft early.

Same for Lance, who hasn't played many total games in college.

Lawrence and Wilson are the only first-round guys. But you know 5 will be taken, and all early, because teams that need quarterbacks will panic.

Tua looked great in college, too. He looks lost in the NFL.

Fields is a one-read quarterback who played on a juggernaut team. That's not the NFL.

Jerry thinks we’re a few shrewd moves away from the Super Bowl.....he will pass on Fields.
Even if Dak plays on the tag, I think he will be confident he can sign him the next year if he wants to. I think he will just kick the can down the road and not draft a QB. I think he should use the non-exclusive myself and put the cards on the table now and decide your future sooner than later. Then, if I lost Dak I try to get Mac Jones possibly. I would not trust taking Lance. I just have not watched Fields much.

Fields is Dak with more upside physically.. They are nearly identical.

I just wonder if Fields has the same type of intangibles that Dak brings? Regardless the difference in pay makes this an easy decision even if it doesn’t pan out. Fields > Dak is better for the teams ceiling going forward.

I honestly think Fields would need a year or grooming at the pro level to be ready to start. Dallas with all the hoopla surrounding the team and organization would be a tough start for anyone even Lawrence. I think the offense they have him in at OSU is not conducive to early success right out the gate. The kid is very talented though but I highly doubt he'd make it past ATL due to him being a hometown kid and they'd have Matty Ice to groom him.

Nah.. Fields is ready to play now.

He isn’t very good at progressing through reads but he’s got an incredible deep ball and he can check it down.

He may not have the production that 2016 Dak had and that’s because the OL and Zeke aren’t what they were but he’s a week 1 starter imo.

I like Trey Lance better than Fields but Lance is a much more significant gamble. I don’t think Lance will be ready next season either and he definitely needs to sit.

Lawrence, Wilson, Fields, and Mac Jones can all play week 1 imo.

I sense that our defense won’t be getting the help it needs.

If we spend our top pick on a QB we are also going to have to spend draft capital to shore up the OL.

Dak was putting up historic numbers despite having two raw tackles, but a young QB is going to need more help.
