Just look no further than the pass protection he is getting with this cobbled together OL..

I was watching some 2016 games and something jumped out.

The OL in 2016 would set up pass protection much better and gave DAK probably 3-4 yards of space b/with where they set up and where he was throwing from.

Watching these last couple of games..

It's like 1-2 yards less space DAK is trying to step up to throw.

He has no time.

The pass rush is on him before he can throw.

This to me spells an early exit in the playoffs unless something changes.

This feeding Zeke is fine.

This throwing to Cooper is dynamite.

But you know in the playoffs they are going to ignore Zeke and stop DAK.

So what are we going to do?

If we get really lucky and somehow improve our seeding..

can we get a bye Week One of the playoffs?

We would have to be the #1 or #2 seed to do that.

That might be what we need.

Otherwise..

can we rework the OL and move some guys around to beef up the OL?

Comments.

Not doing anything this year except hope some guys get healthy.

That's all you can do.

Next year Fred Beard will be back in the starting lineup. Williams will be a year older and more bulked up.

You maybe spend a 4th rounder on another OT...

That's probably it.

I agree with you mostly. Especially the oline is our achilles heel. However, no team is going to ignore Zeke. He will be the main focal point.

What the coaches need to do is get Dak out in the perimeter. Use more RPOs, bootlegs, play action, etc. Stop with the empty back field formation and making receivers run curl routes that take too loing to develop.

I don't dispute that our OL was better in 2016. I mean, the fact that Fredbeard was playing is all you need to know that that is the case. However, that can't be the excuse. You are going to see protection like that maybe never in your career if you are a QB. Dak has to learn how to beat the blitz consistently and when to get rid of the ball. As good or as bad as protection is this year, Dak is still holding the ball too long so he is getting time, he just is not getting the same kind of time but this is the NFL. It sucks but that's how it is.

Probably.

But whatever happens we can not invest another big contract to fix the problem.

Hey..

Beef up Vander Esch.

He's an animal with too much energy.

Let him go both ways.

The O-line doesn't account for his underthrowing/overthrowing wide open receivers constantly. His accuracy is one of my biggest problems with him, and you can't blame that on anyone but him.

Yep, that is all about his mechanics, which are awful on a great percentage of his throws.

Again, Rookie of Year in 2016 with a great Oline. Now, with a very below average line it’s the QB’s fault. But, it’s not because of the QB that won last 5 games.

we dont know what it is, i said it might be the coaches a poster here showed me where the coaches are trying but Dak cant do it.

Dak's biggest problem is his tendency to throw off his back foot. It's a mechanical thing that really should have been corrected by now, but look at his QB coach.

He isn't over/underthrowing all his receivers...

Did you watch the game?

Yes I did.
I saw him complete many passes.
I saw him make some bad throws.
I saw him make some nice throws.

But, he is not Tom Brady or Joe Montana, so that's all that really matters in his 3rd year like every 4th round draft pick QB.

But I understand. I wanted to get rid of Romo after his 3rd full year also.
He was a fumble waiting to happen like Dak...

Yep, that's what he did on that play where it should have been an easy TD for Cooper but the throw was way behind and the DB made the int.

Dak's biggest problem is that he isn't prioritizing protecting the ball. Yes he can work on mechanics, footwork and more prep. But I promise you that if Dak knew that he will lose his job, you would see immediate improvement. That's just human nature. He should be benched until he shows more maturity in this area.
