Ok, you've got the job of the century, Jerry Jones has given you the job to be head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. How would you gameplan against the New York Giants on offense, defense and special teams?

Next, would you use movational tools like the picture of Eli Manning and if so how with his signature at the Cowboys Visitors locker room with his signature saying first win at new stadium?

What other tools would u use to get the Cowboys ready to beat the Giants?

Like for instance would you bring Jimmy Johnson or Dan Reeves in again to watch practice and possibly give some insights on big upcoming game?

Fire away Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys!

Yes. I def bring Jimmy and Reeves in to talk.

Then I dig up Landry's grave and talk to him too.

Then I bring in a bunch of old Cowboys, Emmitt, Troy, Michael, and Woodson to watch the practices/give insight.

Nostalgia = victory.

I'd tell Romo/Witten to run the offense, Ware/Brooking to run the defense, Joe D. to run Special Teams, and go home and watch us win.

Goodlord.

What is the sudden obsession with retired coaches?

Because we beat the Raiders?

Nostalgia.

People want to hear about former coaches/players coming back to Dallas to talk with the current coaches/players.

Brings back nostalgia. And obviously... it equals championship.

Why not? Our past is more meaningful and successful than any other franchise since at least our 1960 inception.

But to answer your question Joe, I'd do the following:

On offense:

--Screens, and draws to use their aggressiveness against them. Our Oline has been struggling, I bet they're going to come out swinging.
--Use Austin as a decoy to run off coverage. They're going to focus on him. This is the game to get Roy going, and hopefully have a big game from Bennett.

On defense:

--Play base defense early. Dont blitz. They beat us when we blitzed last time, and they're going to max protect quite a bit I'd imagine. Our corners are much improved from the last time we've played them. Trust them in coverage. On 3rd down, yes bring the heat.
--Make Brandon Jacobs beat us. In the past the theory has been to stop the run and let Eli beat you. I believe Jacobs is really hitting a wall in his career. I dont believe that he can win the game if they give him 20+ carries. He may be tough to bring down but he's slow, and not nearly the back he was a year ago.

Why shouldnt you live in the past? I'm not even going to answer that.

It's one thing to be proud of it, but there are several fans who think that it's still the 90's and say "Back in the 90's we used to do _____ and it was successful. Therefore, we should do the same, and we'll achieve the same result.

I pass on 80% of plays, and every run would be Barber on a draw play, except for a few Choice wildcats. And I make sure to ignore Felix Jones.

Anything I can do to piss off the parrots on this board.

My thoughts are, always wise to listen to someone that has been in that position before, won superbowls. Granted like Jimmy Johnson said, every season is totally different, but he knew how to build teams, draft players, and get the players prepared. What he had also was the most thing I admired about him, above all else, he said, I hate to lose and so should you to the players. Like the Commanders game, after a loss, players were laughing and cutting up on the plane ride back from Washington. Even the head coach of the arizona cardinals did the same thing last year with the cardinals after they got beat badly by the patriots. He was livid and some of the players on the plane were cutting up. Just like the head coach of the Longhorns, after one game they lost, players were cutting up on the plane after the loss, etc and head coach was livid. He made the players watch film after that loss early in the morning and work out in pads that morning to drive home the point.

Jimmy Johnson was livid, and ticked off at the players for cutting up, he took his job, being head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, and expected his players to have the same motivation.

That to me is the mark of a championship head coach.

And he knew how to use the media to get his points across to the team and how to motivate players. Now, did most of the time players like it, no, but when they were winning they did.

That's the way I want our head coach to be.

With fire, passion and intensity for the game, and instilling that in the players, as well as the coaches on his staff.

We've got to do more straight up drive blocking on offense with the run and be a little choosier with the 'fake slant into a run' play. The G-Men are soft and this team can beat them up if they don't get too cute and don't make stupid mistakes. Defensively we need Spencer and Ware to maintain their running gap resposibilities since the G-Men love to run off the edge and then set it up with a deep PA pass. I'd have the corners bump the receivers a lot since I don't think the G-Men WR's will consistently beat you deep. I think Steve Smith is very good and Mannigham is solid and Nicks and Hixon have game, but they are not deep threats in my mind.

I would put in the same game plan as when we played them earlier in the year. We owned them.

All we had to do is have one less turnover that game.

I'd tell Dallas to hit hard, hit early, and hit often. Get to Manning and put him on his back all day. Come out fired up.

I agree with most of that.

I'm not saying I disagree with it in this example. I was just agreeing with the little joke Vintage made about nostalgia always meaning championships.

On offense:
-attack their slow linebackers with screens (maybe Jones, Choice, and Ogletree).
-Also look for the mismatches with Bennett and Witten on their LB's. Only Boley could POSSIBLY hang with those guys.
-Run right at Umenyiora, he's terrible on run defense.
-Use that for play action passes to Austin. (Pick on everyone in the secondary, especially C.C. Brown)
-Avoid Corey Webster.

Defense:
-Do what we've been doing. They're aren't really many outstanding elements to their offense that we can't handle with the way we've been playing lately. Bradshaw poses a threat, but he probably will still be hobbled (he missed the Denver game with a sprained ankle). I think our secondary can handle their WR's... they've improved since the first meeting while the Giants WR corps have been 'figured out' so to speak. Nicks is always a threat and Smith is dangerous on 3rd down. Boss, although very solid and capable, is almost irrelevant because they neglect to use him.

I dont trust our O-line. I hope I'm wrong.

I still like to pass to set up the run with this group.
