Who do you put on the field first?

- Your veteran offense, featuring a rookie at RT - let him get his lumps early and get into the flow of the game.

or

- Your young (new) defense - let them make mistakes and adjustment early, but perhaps kill their confidence on a big play in the process.

Remember you are playing away and may need to ball to start the 3rd qtr.

I'd say put the O out first, let the young guys observe the game and get rid of the jitters while the vets show them what a real game is like.

You always start off taking the ball. There's a good chance you'll have ONE extra possession if you start off first. That's a HUGE advantage.

I go on O.......... score first and take the lead.

Offense. This is a young offense and it should establish itself first this season before the defense should.

on the road, take the ball. playing at home, put your defense on the field first.

The only time you would want to put the defense out first is if you have a Proven dominant defense that is very likely to make the oppositions O go three and out. Our defense is not proven to be dominant.

As a general rule, in the Pros you take the ball first. Almost without question.

In college......you almost always put your defense on the field first.

Defense first. You hold em 3 and out should get the ball at our 35 or 40 yard line. Second half you get the ball march right down and score you've set the tone twice. Hate to get the ball first and go 3 and out

In the college game, the (usually) correct answer is to defer the decision. If your opponent then elects to kick, you may elect to receive to open the second half, thus getting the ball to open each half. Think this never happens? A few years ago it happened when Mississippi State played LSU. The LSU team captain elected to kick after the MSU team captain deferred the decision. That LSU team captain was none other than Bradie James.

In the pros, I believe you must choose to kick or receive and deferring is not an option. Could be wrong, though.

Offense....take it to 'em. If you can get a first down or two, you can pin them deep even if your drive stalls.

...absolutely take the possession. You put your offence in first. Their defence is not their strong suit, and you keep the ball away from Ladanian.

Anything else is playing against the odds and not BP style ball. It's about controlling time of possession and keeping a defence fresh and off the field.

That's the correct answer, and the correct reason why.

Also, if you choose to kick off, you could get TWO FEWER possessions than your opponent. If you choose to kick off to start the game, you DO NOT get the ball to start the second half. The opponent gets to choose, and they'll undoubtedly take the ball. So they could have the first and last possessions of the first half AND the first and last possessions of the second half -- that's two more possessions than you'd get. If you win the pregame coin toss in the NFL, you DO NOT kick off, under any circumstance.

I think you take the ball first. Almost no matter what. It would have to be something out of the ordinary to go on Defense first.

brain fart

Offense with out a doubt. Spread them out with Key, Glenn and Price and draw to Julius. Man I can't wait. I expect alot from this offense.
