If you're looking at Combine stats, which ones are the most important?

For example,

a 40-yard dash isn't really relevant for DL or OL.

And you can make the argument that cone drills and other drills and maybe the 10 yard burst is more relevant for LBs.

In fact, other than CBs or WRs, the 40 is probably overstated, in terms of necessary football position speed.

In looking at OL and DL, I'd be more interested in 10 yard sprints.

For RBs, I guess 20 yard sprints and probably the vertical to show explosiveness/acceleration.

For RBs, I'd say 3-cone, broad jump, and 10 yard split.

The only one that matters is obviously the 40.

For the defensive front 7 I want to see bench press, vert jump and 10 yard split.

CBs, 40 and vert leap.

RBs: I want to see tape.
QB: I want to see tape.

WRs: I want to see them catch the ball. After that 40 times and cone drills.

OL: go to the tape.

Here's what these guys had to say, at least that's what my sources tell me.

Vince Young: "The Wonderlic."
Emmitt Smith: "The 40 yard dash."
Isaac Hilton: "The weigh in."
Mike Mamula: "None are important."
