Take away the salary cap and your statement falls flat once the big money rolls out. Revenue sharing has nothing to do with monies earned outside of the NFL.
That has nothing to do with the concept of "big market cities", which is what I was talking about.

Revenue sharing leveled the playing field with regard to big markets vs small markets.

As I sit here and remember the NFL I grew up with, I remember both big market NY teams, as well as the Rams (for the most part) never winning much of anything while the smaller market teams like Pittsburgh, Minneapolis, Denver, Buffalo and even Cleveland had runs of excellence, reaching at least the conference championship multiple times.

The "buying" of a championship in the NFL is a myth and the salary cap is all about cost management and not about striving for parity.

The NY teams had truly piss poor front offices.

The salary cap unquestionably suppresses players' wages, but I expect that having 32 competitive teams actually increases the league's revenue in the long run.

An uncapped league creates the situation we see in MLB, where there's not much reason to watch small market teams.

If you are say a Cincinnati Bengals fan, and you stick with your team through the leaner Dalton years, your faith may be rewarded with a couple Joe Burrow contender squads 3 or 4 seasons later. So keep watching the games, keep watching the draft, etc, cause this could all turn around quickly. If you're a Cincinnati Reds fan, your team is just going to suck year after year. You can leave and come back in 10 years, and they are still just going suck.
