Seriously, it seemed that they were both giving up some big plays last night. I don't expect them to be Deion but then again they weren't covering Rice or Irvin last night either. Maybe one of you x's and o's guys can explain to me why they gave up key receptions in the scoring drives of the 49ers. I have high hopes for them but I'm a little concerned. Someone come talk me in off the ledge....

Scandrick didnt give up a reception in entire first half. Starters came out in second half and there was a drop off. I think both CBs will be top tandem in the league maybe in year or two.

Both played very well last nite with the 1st team D. When the 1st team front 7 left the game, then their play dropped off but that goes hand and hand. They've played well all preseason..

Ok, I just seem to remember Scandrick giving up a long pass right before the half, with the starters still in the game but maybe I'm misremembering. I'll take a step back but I'm still prepared to jump. Well, not really but It's nice to know that things may not be as scary as they might appear.

All CBs are going to give up some big plays now and then. Overall, they both play really well and have great ceilings for potential.

One thing I remember is the lack of pressure by the 2nd team and it seemed they committed 6 to blitzing often. If you cannot get there with 6 then you are going to find people open.

they gave up some plays with the 2nd team but that is to be expected when you can't get much pressure on the QB and you're playing a lot of zone

Both have played very well. No worries here. Even Ball has come to play.

as I said last night, huh? what big plays? the Niners hardly completed any passes to WR's, and averaged 6.0yds per attempt. What plays are you referring to?

none of our cb's are making plays, getting picks. newman came close once but 3 games and no int's by the secondary. jenkins made some good tackles but scandrick looked lost to me.

I only saw 1 big play given up when the starters were in and that was some stupid zone in I guess Newman's area though 2 other cowboys were near the play as well. the other ones came when the backups were in and got zero pressure. Deion would've given up a big play or 2 himself with no pressure from his front 7.

The 9'ers may have only averaged 6 ypc but I specifically remember a couple of 20 and 30 yards catches against them.

One guy had a 20yd reception on Jenkins, although he was a TE and he broke the tackle. Since he outweighs him byt 50 or so lbs, thats not the worst thing. The coverage itself was good though.

The 35 yd reception you are referring to happened on the Niners last drive with under a minute left, and the guy was being covered by D Smith, Scandrick and Jenkins werent even in the game.

dbair - there was aone play where they hit a WR on the sideline with 3 boys players in the screen but none made a play on the ball. I think it was in the 1st or 3rd they were going from l to r.
I think it was a zone coverage, which i hate this team playing. They always seem to play it the last 2 mins of the half anf game, and look what happened. Last night they scored 10 points(the 9ers) in that situation.
