I'm confused about the "spiking" the ball rule.

On several occasions today Commanders WR's tossed the ball to the ground (lord knows they had enough chances) in the same fashion we have seen TO do so many times only to be flagged for delay of game. Is there something I'm missing here besides the typical BS and inconsistency from NFL officials?

Nope. That about sums it up.

It's the inconsistency. They are inconsistent on all their rules whether it's holding, horsecoller, pass interference, etc. etc.

A couple of times I just rolled my eyes at it but I remember once McCardell really gunned the ball at the ground after being tackled on the sideline and I just about it lost when a flag was not thrown.

Moss did it a couple times too and was waiting for the call.

For the same reason we see other teams getting away with obvious holding against us. It is an officials prerogative as to whether to call it. :bang2:

I know there are some holier-than-thou types on this board that like to make fun of people who complain about the officiating, but I don't care. The officiating is very inconsistent and it goes against the Cowboys more often than not.

There you go.

Can't really blame the officials though. The NFL keeps making and tweaking all these rules, it's hard for them to keep up.

The NFL used to be the best officiated game in all sports. I'm not so sure that's the truth anymore.
