I'm glad they didn't abandon the run

I found the following post on a Falcons board lamenting how their team often abandons the run when they get behind and crediting the Cowboys for keeping a balanced attack despite being in a hole. I would have to agree with him. Sticking with a balanced run/pass attack was a reason why the Cowboys were able to fight their way back into the game and have a chance to win.

The Cowboys trailed 29-10 in the 3rd quarter. From that point the Cowboys offense methodically clawed its way back into the game by keeping balanced which kept the Falcons off balance.

I've repeatedly heard excuses for the Falcons lack of rush attempts over the years, claiming that once a team is down two scores, you must become one dimensional. This is not true. Like the Patriots in SB 51, the Cowboys commitment to the run game despite being down three scores allowed for several chunk plays and ultimately turned the momentum of the game.

Down 29-10, the Cowboys still ran 14 times. They were not great in the run game, but the balance allowed them to be explosive as a unit.

Remember this next time we are down 10 points in the 3rd and abandon the run

He had a few moments, like that 2 point conversion play.
Oh, that got me, just Like I’m sure it did everyone else. That toss-sweep 6-7 yards from the goal line was so bad. They were keyed on the run, since it was killing them on the goal line already, and then you gave them such a naked look like that? Bad, bad play call.

Dont run alway in first down

I agree with this. I think Garrett thought we would be so good at the run that we could always do it even when the box was stacked against the run and the opponents knew not only that we were going to run, but knew exactly who would run and where. That used to drive me nuts. It made me miss Landry, who went all out of his way and innovated specifically so that the offense would not be predictable. I want opponents to be unsure what play we're going to execute. Under those conditions, you have the chance to successfully run on first down. Or pass on first down.
