I'm happy with the RB usage

Last week I said I wasnt and everyone and their mother quoted me to imply I must be dumb.

Well I wanted to update again. We split effectively. Pollard got enough sprinkled throughout the game to be ready for heavier usage late in the game. His fresh legs allowed him to tear up a tired and bruised 4th quarter defense.

It just makes so much more sense to let Pollard get some shots in and then let him also run the garbage time run plays.

Against a more difficult opponent or situation, this might be a bit much of Pollard. But in my opinion, this distribution was just about perfect for the situation and opponent.

Really reminded me a lot of Gordon and Ekeler. I said it last week and I'll say it again, those two are a really good model for how Dallas should use our two RBs.

Or Thurmond Thomas and Kenneth Davis.

Ya, that was a bit dickish. However, what you saw today most likely won't be repeated unless we keep rolling up on teams.

not only do you have a very capable backup RB in Pollard, should zeke get dinged up and has to miss games per injury

but you also have the backup RB you needed to give zeke the big breather rest needed - that will make a stronger, more fresher leg zeke down the stretch
while also providing the 2nd punch from a backup RB that can hurt an opponent just as much ..

Someone call Jason so he knows an internet poster is content with his coaching.
Garrett is garbage, he went respectful conservative but Pollard balled out. I would like to put our foot on their throats, to start that playoff mentality..
JG has & will always be our Achilles heel...

Nor should it be, as I alluded to in my OP. This was the situation and opponent to give Pollard so much 4Q work. However, this would have been a bit heavy on Pollard if the game was closer at the end.

The work he got in other quarters though, that needs to be repeated. Play the second half by ear but plan on wanting to use Pollard late, and sprinkle him in accordingly. Who knows why you may want to use him late (rest Zeke, two RB set, burn clock), but plan on it.

Zeke is the better back and Pollard probably isnt cutting 100 yards the way he did without three quarters of Zeke feeding on the front 7. But tonight is proof of concept that, split effectively, Zeke + Pollard > Zeke.

If Pollard gets volume in this offense he would produce at a high level.

But did u remember to bring goggles for the game? I told ya Witten was going to kick up dust...

It'd be fun to see Pollard get starter reps for a season, just for S&Gs. Is he a Randle type who can't scale a sterling YPC to a full time role, or is he a guy who would go off with 200 carries?

Zeke moved up to 4th in rushing now, he was around 8th. Just think Zeke can still win the rushing title, and pollard still get more carries then previous back ups.
now that is a rushing attack.

Zeke's hold out helped Pollard a lot in hindsight. I think it was planned.

I agree. Spiting 30 carries between Zeke and Tony, 60/40 is about right.

Pollard is playing at the end because zeke is getting back into shape but mostly because these games have been over by then. In more competitive games, give me zeke for 85-90% and Pollard can have what's left as long as it isn't at the end or the beginning.

Kellen moore did not have zeke available to work with until the Wednesday before our first game. ergo, it's taken a few games to figure out how to best effectively use both zeke and pollard. separately and together in the same backfield. looks like young Kellen is figuring things out. and nice to see that zeke isn't showing any jealous tendencies with sharing the load with pollard. after all, he's got 90 million reasons to be happy.
