Something in the $100 to $150 range. Any suggestions?

Which is better Tom Tom, Garmin or something else?

A friend of mine has this on his Droid cell phone.

I have a droid phone for work but I know my boss wouldn't be very happy if I added that to the plan without his permission. lol

I'm wanting this for personal use.

I don't think it costs him anything extra. I could be wrong though.

I've got three friends with Tom Tom. They love it.

I've got AT&T Navigator on my Blackberry. It does the trick in a pinch. I don't think it costs me anything either.

That's right, Hos. Maps are always updated for free, too. If you can afford the $30/mo. for the data plan it is way better than a GPS, which was recently named one of the endangered species of electronics.

Will they help me find you?

i have a tom tom, i really like it. it is update-able.

i also have navigation on my iphone. when i am by myself i prefer using
the tom tom since it speaks out the driving directions.

i did read the article that said gps units were endangered devices but unless my wife is with me looking at the phone my vote is for the tom tom.

I've used Garmin and Tom Tom.

Don't really think you're going to miss much going with either. Both do the same thing.

I think Garmins are a little better but that's just personal preference.

Like Hos said, it doesn't cost anything extra if you already have a data plan. It is included in the pre loaded "Maps" application or the "Navigation" application. I use it on my Moto Droid all the time and it works perfectly.

My friend, I don't know how to break this to you, but I'm sure your wife has already told you that even if you get one, you still won't be able to find your ***...

I have a Garmin Nuvi 260 and it's been fine for me. I don't need all the extra fancy stuff, just how to get where I'm going, but even my little one has a nice search. For example, you can search for restaurants in your immediate area, or businesses by name, etc.

They have an option to buy maps for the life of the device, too, which is nice.

I just got a Garmin Nuvi ... similar to Faerluna's.

I'm living in a new area and it helps.

It's nice to hear a female voice that isn't my wife's telling me where to go (for a change). ;)
