In fact I'm from the other side of the globe.

And I must admit I haven't been following the game very long (5 years or so) but I do enjoy it and watch when I can - not to mention spending a fair bit of time lurking here at the zone to get what info I can about the team, etc...

One quick question though:

Does the mood in this forum reflect the mood of Cowboy fans in general?

I ask because as I mentioned I am far, far removed from Texas and any other NFL fans (let alone Dallas fans) and I'm curious to gauge what the perception is of the team by the man on the street, rather than just the forumites.

-cheers.

:welcome: I think there is a vocal minority. Losing streaks don't always go well here or elsewhere.

To a certain extent yes it does. But overall I doubt the Cowboy fan base is quite as cranky compared to the CZ membership.

Thanks all,

I was kinda hoping that was the case.

I only managed to catch the last quarter and a half of the last two games (day games are early in the morning here) and I must admit I felt a lot better this week than last week, purely because we won.

Then of course I logged on here.... :(

Hopefully most non-zone fans are happily drunk or drunker by now!

i was born and raised in dallas, i've lived in texas all my life. trust me when i say that this place is much more positive then the average cowboys fan in texas.

You have to keep in mind that almost NO ONE on this forum is your casual or typical Cowboys fan.

This is a collection of some of the most rabid, dumbest, and smartest Cowboys fans on the planet (though many of the smarter ones, whether they are skeptics or happy fans, have slowed their posting numbers due to the mind numbing number of "idiot posts" lately). Regardless of the fan's positions around here, they ARE rabid. We all care around here. We're all VERY emotionally invested in the Dallas Cowboys. Sometimes WAY too much.

The world is full of FAR more casual fans than what you are going to see here.;)

You can get NFL rewind and watch those.

Actually we get NFL Gamepass here in Oz. It's pricey but really well serviced, I'm pretty sure it's the same thing as rewind? although it does let you watch the games live as well.

I'll watch all of today's game when I get a chance - I don't normally re-watch all of the losses (it's tough when you know what happens!)

A sad reality.

I work at a place where there are a great deal of Cowboy fans.

I disagree that this place is not reflective of the majority of fans in the Metroplex.

I hear most fans are disappointed and think this team has issues.

And most don't accept this notion that you aren't a real fan unless you ignore the facts that are on the field each week.

Bingo.

Fact is, I'm a ray of sunshine to most fans around Dallas.

Rewind is not live. At least mine isn't. And I'm not seeing the all 22 offered either. Just not taking the time.

Half of the people you meet on the street will say things like "tony romo sucks we need to get rid of him" or "miles austin is the best player on the team".

Most people on this board are much more knowledgeable about the cowboys, and are usually more realistic.

I understand.

I remember when I first started hanging around here regularly it was during the "Believe" movement when the Cowboys on their first playoff game in a long while.

There was a real sense of belief and trust in the team, and I couldn't help feel that that was carried into the stadium by the fans (weren't there "Believe" signs in the crowd?). Now, with the feeling in here being so profoundly negative it sort of seems like the team can do no right.

Whether or not the team deserve that is another discussion I suppose.

yeah i don't get the notion that this place is sewer of negativity. yeah some weirdos have popped up around here the last few months but overall cz has a much more positive outlook on the team/franchise then the avg cowboys fan you meet on the street in texas. both jerry jones and tony romo get much more support on here.

This place is the ideal place to gain a perspective on how the fans view the Cowboys. Don't let anyone fool you. This forum is a snapshot of the Cowboys' fanbase-both "happy fans" and "realist". This board is merely an online water cooler, if you will.

Honestly, this team deserves every bit of bad press and skepticism that it faces. They have GREATLY underachieved considering the experience and talent level (that's not to say that they don't have holes).

Average NFL fans just laugh at the Cowboys.

Rabid NFL fans love where we are year after year. It brings them great joy.

As far as Cowboys fans, the serious ones are very loyal and love the team. The ones that make the perceived "negative" comments are tired of the mediocrity year after year. Those accepting of the mediocrity kid themselves about being Boys fans. If you arent sick of this mess, you dont really care, IMO. Settling for some wins here and there isnt what being a Cowboys fan is all about. Winning, and winning often is!

Being a Cowboy fan is something special. Its being part of an elite family. And most if not all of that goes back to the heritage of the Landry Cowboys. The Cowboys were the class of the NFL in every aspect. Cowboys fans generally are the classiest and most decent fans in all of sports. The class of the past Cowboys attracted classy fans all over the country.

If you think Cowboys fans are negative or bitter you are reading them wrong. They just expect more than the rest. They expect to win. And an undisciplined, mistake prone, underachieving team does not foster a winning attitude or worthy expectations. Anything less is not acceptable!
