I'm moving on.

I'm making this thread to offer some advice to the board members and thoughts on the team going forward.

This stings like a mo fo. For me personally, its the worst I've felt since the 1996 loss in Carolina.

That year I simply could not bring myself to watch the NFC Championship game or Superbowl. COULD NOT DO IT.

I refused to torture myself any further,
or put myself in a position to feel any more pain.

So what am I saying or suggesting.
SHUT IT DOWN AND INSULATE YOURSELF UNTIL FA IS ABOUT TO START.

Dont watch NFL Network, ESPN or local sports news.
Dont watch anymore games this year.
Shut it down and insulate yourself.

Trust me its your best play.

If you need a football/Cowboys fix go to the team's site or come here and choose your thread wisely.

Outside of that, shut it down. Doing anything other than that will only be rubbing salt in your wounds. You will not hear anything good about the Cowboys.

As far as the future goes, I'm positive and I feel lucky to be a Cowboys fan.
Why shouldnt I be?
This team has improved every year since 2004.
The upward trend of this team is indisputable.
We found a franchise QB in 2006. A legit top 5 player at his position.

QB is by far the most critical position for a pro football team and we have it filled as well or better than anyone for the next 5-7 years.

All things being equal, we have a better chance to compete for a SB as anyone.

But all things are not equal. We also have one of the best, most talented rosters in football. We are loaded with probowl caliber players.

Even more impressive is the number of legit All-Pro caliber players we have at critical positions. QB Romo, WR Owens, OLB Ware, CB Newman.

Do we need to improve? Of course.
But we have few FA's, a great cap situation and two 1st rd picks.
We're in a great positon to improve what is already one of the best teams in football.
We will be a SB favorite in 2008.

Trust me, I feel your pain. I have to watch myself at times and realize that these guys are making millions upon millions and get to go home to their Ferraris and large homes. But I love football so much I can't stop watching it. There is nothing like watching the playoffs and watching teams step up the intensity for the big game (yeah I know, where was ours).

I will just turn it around 180 degrees. Instead of rooting for a team to win, I will be rooting for the Patriots to lose. I hope San Diego upsets them.

Guys,
I totally feel your pain. This loss really hurts. More than the 98 loss to Arizona, even more than the 96 loss to the Panthers.
This team was a Super Bowl caliber team.

People need to get off Romo's back. This dude has only started for 1.5 seasons. I just hope he doesn't lose confidence!!
Let's remember that Aikman didn't win a game his rookie season.

Immediately after this debacle.................I mean the VERY NEXT THING I did after the final gun was to dismantle my entire "Cowboy" displays on my truck, my computer screens, my office decor...........everything. No signs or indication whatsoever that I'm a devastated and broken-hearted Cowboy fan.
In it's place went up all the Jeff Gordon #24 stuff, in preparation for the Daytona 500 and the start of NASCAR season.
I'm in 100% agreement about NOT allowing myself to watch ANY sporting TV or Radio for at least a week. No forums, websites, etc.............
And the only "out" is the lame and weak self brainwashing that the world isn't coming to an end. You know, the old "all the kids are healthy, the bills are paid, business is pretty good, wifes looking good, etc, etc, etc..........." But we all know that in the pit of my gut, it's gonna' stay twisted until maybe the spring over this.
I'm not gonna' forget this though. My No. 1 emotion is anger at myself. Anger at myself for once again, buying into it and getting "on board" again, ala the early 90's. Thinking that maybe, perhaps, just maybe this is "IT" again.........only to get stood up at the alter again. THAT'S, amongst other bad thoughts, is my biggest regret.
Will Dallas be back? Are they a team on the rise? Is this the "end"? Yes, yes and "of course not" are the answers. They may very well win the SB next year. But, I for one will not go down this road again. Inside, I'll be just as "on board" as ever, but I'm not gonna' so much as WHISPER anything resembling "I believe" out loud.............until the rings are on the fingers.
I've been good-'n'-trained at this point to never again "count chickens" with this team.

The pain is NOT over Romo's performance, it's that regardless of who's under center or roaming the sidelines, it's been OVER a decade since we've won a freakin' playoff game. I mean, really...how HARD is that?? We've seen some sorry franchises with even sorrier coaches, like the Saints/Hawks/Skins/Jets/Chargers eek out a couple of these babies in recent years. And SD is doing with NORVAL THE CLOWN, of all people.:banghead:

As for Romo-I'm by him thick and thin. When the dust settles in a couple of weeks, I will RESUME wearing my Romo9 jersey.:)

Despite our losing our first playoff games both in 06 & 07, I'm a Romo believer and have no doubt that someday very soon he'll bring us a SB win; hopefully 2 or more but I'm not throwing him under the rug after only 1.5 year's as a starter.

What i find funny, is now all the bandwagon fans can go hide again. I am a Cowboy fan but i am also a huge football fan, i love the game. Getting your heart broken is just part of being a fan. I will watch the championship games and Super Bowl and maybe even the Pro Bowl this year. No reason to avoid a sport you enjoy just because your team is one of the 31 losers.

I agree with you about NASCAR coming up. Thats the only thing that I have to look foward to now.

Sorry about your infatuation with the "Rainbow Warrior" though.:D

We all feel yours sorrow.

The only thing that can at this point, pull me away from my sorrows would be if Joely Richardson would come to me, carrying a steak on a platter and a cold bottle of Shiner Bock.
And if she would whisper in my ear that she will spend her every waking moment of her life catering to my every need and bringing me unlimited steaks and shiner bocks.

Yes, that would do it.

Oh, and if she would, after my breakfast of steak and shiner bock, hold up a newspaper with the Headlines: Jerra buys out Phillip's contract; Garrett is new coach."
That, and Joely's smile as she approaches me, would do it. For now.

I feel your pain... and the other members pain... and fans all around the worlds pain.....

BUT.....

THIS IS A CROCK OF DOODIE.

Last year loss was supposed to be that "thing" that keeps us sharp and focused so we "dont forget how it feels to lose"

THEN... we go out there and commit more penalties than the visiting team.
We dont execute. Its nonsense.

We got too cute at the end.
And in the end... we end up with "the end".

Not a good analogy but I know what you mean. This loss was pretty bad. Hell I am still hearing it from others I know that Romo is just mediocre, that the Cowboys just weren't good enough etc
