Earlier in the process of the draft he was one of the prospects I really hoped didn't rise so that we would not get him, but i'm really starting to like him. Its boom or bust, but he has the potential to wreck havok on the d-line for a while.

I agree, I like at him at 9 now more than before, but, he is not boom or bust at all.

He's the type of guy you pick and get a starter/potential pro bowler for 10 years. He appears to be a pretty safe pick.

I just can't bring myself to take a DE at #9 unless he was completely dominating like Suh or Fairley. You want Watt, trade back then take him.

I'm with you on that one, but my reservations on DE is based more on the role they play in a 3-4. If some are expecting either JJ or Jordan to provide more of an impact than Spears did, they may be disappointed.

That is not to say they won't have an impact, I like(d) Spears. I just don't know that people will ever be happy with the numbers our DE's will put on a stat sheet.

Actually, that is my exact point. Now, if you where drafting Suh, or Ratliff (as we know him today) then I would take him even as a 3-4 DE at #9. Those guys make a major impact on the game. Spears does a solid job, but doesn't force the offense account for him on every play the way Ratliff and Suh do.

They are both strong. Fair complected. Play DE. Wouldn't admit it out loud but love the song Angel of the Morning.

How is he boom or bust? If anything hes heavily regarded as a strong, try hard DE who probably wont be great, but probably wont suck either.

IMO the difference between Watt and Heyward is not as big as the gap between Patrick Peterson and lets say Aaron Williams.

Or Tyron Smith and lets say Demarcus Love.

He wont create turnovers(Peterson) and he wont protect Romo(Tyron)

You do know those Combine numbers disprove your point right?

Also I don't know what games you watched, but Watt always stood out to me. I really started noticing him back in around October because he was always making plays.

I'd rather trade back and take Tyron Smith or Cameron Hayward.

So you post some combine numbers as your rebuttal, as proof as your evaluation skills? Which by the way to anybody who understands them contradicts your argument.

Yes sir, your not ducking the question. You are with out a doubt the primo talent evaluator.

I certainly can take you seriously now.

Just a gut feeling of mine, I don't think he'll become a spears-like longterm average starter, I feel he'll either become a game changer or be below average, I don't know what makes me feel that way I just do.
