You have to put todays win in perspective. The last time the Cowboys faced the Rams they beat them down 34-7 and Murray ran all over them similar to what he did today. As per usual on this board when the Cowboys win in a rare blowout a few overzealous FANS started talking SB immediately after that game. The previous 2 weeks many were throwing in the towel on the season. Heading into the Rams game the Cowboys were riding a 2 game losing streak. Everyone was reeling from the 24 point lead the Cowboys blew to Detroit and the close loss to NE but as most of us regulars know all it takes here is one good win for some to start making SB predictions again. The Cowboys have the most delusional fan base of any team in the NFL. Below are a some links that back my opinion. :)

After the Cowboys blowout win over the Rams in 2011 that got some FANS to go overboard with optimism the Cowboys suffered an even worse beat down than the one they gave the Rams the following week on the road in Philly. Immediately after the 34-7 thumping Philly gave the Cowboys some were once again throwing in the towel on the season. Some need to just tap the brakes and let's see what Cowboys team shows up in San Diego next Sunday. The Chargers are reeling after blowing another game in the 4th quarter so they need a win or their season is going to be in the toilet before they ever reach Nov.

Jimmy Johnson made a comment on the pre game show that the Cowboys have a disease of patting themselves on the back when things are going good and end up falling flat. It seems like criticism is the only thing that motivates the Cowboys. They can't seem to handle prosperity once it appears they're starting to turn the corner they end up laying an egg. It doesn't take much for complacency to set in with the Cowboys. The next few weeks is going to say a lot about this team and where it's headed.

KJJ I usually agree with you but if this team is playing at Seattle in the NFCCG I'd pity the other 13 teams that are home watching us on tv. Remember, no one gave us a chance in the NFCCG at SF years ago.

The team that faced SF years ago in the NFC title game was a team on the brink of winning 3 SB's in the next 4 years. That team went 11-5 and won a playoff game the previous season. This Cowboys team hasn't won anything in 4 years and isn't remotely close to the Cowboys team you're referring to. I would love nothing more than to see the Cowboys in the NFC title game this season but I just don't see it happening.

I'm just hoping the Cowboys can make the playoffs. As weak as the NFC East is they have a legit shot but they have to show consistency. This win-lose-win-lose pattern isn't going to get it done unless 500 is good enough to win the division which it may end up being.

Trust me when I say the Deadskins fans have us beat when it comes to being delusional.

I heard the demons got their hamstring injured while working out. We'll get the Cowboys medical staff on them quick. They won't be bothering anyone for the year.

I see what you did there

I guess what I'm saying is if they get to the NFCCG then they would have to have gotten some of those monkeys off their backs on the way to the game.
Right now just making the NFCCG would make this season a success because no one picked them to be there in the beginning of the season, just like the '92 team. Now I'm not comparing this team to the '92 team but I am comparing situations (heavy underdog on the road in the NFCCG) and that's one that I would love to be in because it means that they have a chance.

Tap the breaks man..

Great win today but a stinker next week and then a game with Denver could put us at 2-3.

I'm thinking they split the next 2 games, and if they play like they played yesterday have a real chance to win both. If they can play like they played yesterday they can beat anyone in the league honestly

Just to make the playoffs the Cowboys are going to have to get some monkeys off their backs it's been almost 4 years since they made the playoffs. The past 4 years has been so disappointing that just making the playoffs would make this season a success. It would signify a step in the right the direction and would be something to build on entering the 2014 season. At the start of this season most had the Giants and Commanders battling for the division title and both are 0-3. Getting to an NFC title game is very difficult the Cowboys haven't gone that far since the 1995 season. This current Cowboy teams situation is very different to the situation the Cowboys were in in 1992. That was an excellent Cowboys team in 92 that went 13-3 and won a playoff game on the road the year before in Chicago. That Cowboys team was improving each season and was only 4 point dogs to SF on the road in the NFC title game. I don't remember many not giving the Cowboys a chance in that game.

We wouldn't be having this discussion right now if the Cowboys didn't win big yesterday. The win prompted a FAN to go overboard with an unlikely prediction due to a lopsided victory over a Rams team that has a long way to go. Anything can happen during the course of a season but for the Cowboys just to have a chance at the playoffs entering week 17 they're going to have to become a consistent team that can string wins together and they're going to have to learn to win on the road in Dec/Jan in a hostile environment.

Some are. They think once the defense improves they will run the table.

Right now Washington is dead last in defense and has given up more yards than any team in history after the first 3 games. RG3 still isn't right and Morris isn't going to gain the yardage he did last season. They'll be having to run the table by mid season the way they're going.

Exactly. That's why I think these Deadskins fans are more delusional than the Cowboys fans. I hear it from my coworkers and there is a thread on the ES board about "..still going to the playoffs" or something like that. At least the Cowboys fans are talking SB after spanking the Rams.

Talking the playoffs is one thing and talking the SB is another. Washington is just one season removed from winning the NFC East so I can understand if some of their FANS haven't given up on the playoffs with 13 games left in a weak division. But some Cowboy FANS are talking SB after spanking a Rams team that played like crap yesterday.

I'm not sure if the Cowboys were that good or the Rams were that bad but we'll find out in the coming weeks when the Cowboys play some quality opponents. I could understand some FANS having SB thoughts if the Cowboys pound Denver but not the Rams who've laid their second egg in Cowboys stadium since 2011.

Some Deadskins fans are still talking about going to the SB even after losing past Sunday. Few of my coworkers are Deadskins fans and they think RG3 just needs to get the rust off a little and for their defense to improve a little. They think somehow this will happen after their bye week. Their SB run is supposed start with blowing out the Cowboys after the bye week regardless what their record may be at that time. I keep reminding them that only 5 teams have made to the playoffs after starting the season 0-3. They don't care and their reasoning is because there hasn't been a player like RG3. Ever. They are delusional to the max.

Exactly.

Not trying to rain on anybodys parade here, but the last two seasons we started 2-1 and ended up 8-8.

Enjoy the win, but keep things in perspective. Now if we get to 5-1 or 6-1 or 7-2..........then we can start talking about making some noise in the playoffs. Right now we have the same record as the Tennessee Titans.

That is what I mean about keeping things in perspective.

I mean seriously, we have a lot to be happy about, mainly the pressure we put on the QB. What this team needs to do is bully great teams around. We need to become the bully and make teams afraid of us. To do this it takes focus and attention to every play, every series. We did not have a ton of pre snap penalties, if any, and that's a start in the right direction. Just sitting here watching Manning throw a Welker touch down, I noticed how he got the offense settled down before the snap, made his read, and threw the ball fast and on time.

Another thing, we can't allow teams to get comfortable on offense. This defensive line needs to be the power of that defense, same as the line on the other side. If both lines can become power houses, look out. From there, we need to string together victories against a variety of teams, not just the bad ones. Once we knock off 4 and 5 wins in a row, this would be a sign of a team that can go to the playoffs and compete there. Remember, to win a Super Bowl, you must win at minimum 3 games in a row to the BEST of the best.

Great win yesterday, now let's see what's up in San Diego.
