But I don't feel like Danny Glover in the Lethal Weapon movies when he makes his famous quote. I feel like Danny Glover in this movie instead when I heard the news that we traded the best pass rusher in the NFL before he even reached his prime. Business as usual being a Cowboys fan these days.

I know there are fans with many more years on them (god bless you) but I'm still old. And I've seen 500+ games of the Cowboys and very few games linger. But you know one game that does? The game against the Chargers when Micah Parsons in his second game in the NFL was called on to suddenly play out of position as a DE and wrecked havoc all day on the Chargers offensive line. Use whatever stat line you want, pressure, sacks (he only had 1) but that was his welcoming party to the NFL and if you loved the game, you loved watching that. That was also when I knew we had drafted a Hall of Famer. I remember that game because it's rare to see a defensive player dominate like that and just take over a game. Especially someone who just joined the NFL! D-Ware had some great games, no doubt, but I think I have to go back to guys like Roy Williams or Deion Sanders in their younger years to see one defensive player cause so much trouble for an offense.

One of the ESPN stat guys posted it. Even though Zimm had told us this would be a defense that helps Micah, he had no choice but to use him the same way DQ did if he wanted to win, and the defense went from worst when he wasn't there, to best when he was there and being rotated. Regardless of what the haters say about him in the playoffs, this WHOLE TEAM stinks in the Playoffs, EVERY YEAR, if you don't respect where #11 is he will kill you!

Was it a lot of money? Yeah, but so is EVERY freaking contract given to an athlete these days. Go cry to the system that makes it happen, not the player who just cashes in because they can. I don't understand how we pay Dak that much money when he's not even in the argument for best at his position like Parsons. I don't understand how Jerry Jones always gets his ego involved and screws up some type of move. I just watched that 90's Dynasty documentary where many times he admits he let himself get in the way of success, and the old man strikes again. The Boys are desperate and so goes our chances of maybe 3 first rounders, or something truly worthy of the Herschel Walker tag. I wonder if throwing that DT in was the deal breaker? Micah pays for the Cowboys unable to find a DT worth a damn the last few years. We basically got Hankins with 2 more years on him.

But bottomline is if you or any reasonable fan put money on those draft picks from the Packers, you would bet they are going end of 1st round at best. Jordan Love was hurt all year and still played all season in his sophomore slump. He is going to tear it up next year. And we traded Parsons to a Conference opponent who we would most likely meet in the Playoffs, and one who whipped the crap out of us. A team with the biggest financial disadvantages of any NFL franchise was able to jump in and basically get the best pass rusher in the NFL for 2 high 2nd round picks. If the Cowboys wanted to rebuild and get rid of star players, the time to do it was the day after that Green Bay stomping. We could have gotten value for a lot of players then. I don't understand what the point is right now of what they're doing. These feel like the Dave Campo years again.

"These feel like the Dave Campo years again."

I think Shotty might take exception to that one, of course time will tell

Better go back and look at the rosters from the Campo days.
Dave Campo years were a team that should have been blown up already and was paying for it. A pointless team with no direction, let's just wing it and see what happens. And that's how the Schotty years are feeling. And with same "out of blue" coaching decision to lead this team. One of Jerry's boys.

I can’t believe we have fans that are upset we’re not paying franchise QB money for 13 sacks.

I thought when it was announced how much the Packers gave him the fanbase would be much more understanding as to why we did this.

Yall gotta stop getting attached to the name on the back.

It's sad, but we already know the result because we have an FO that doesn't consist of accountable professionals whose focus is improving the team around the clock. The FO is pretty much a family affair and yes men, and how can you be successful when the decision makers have zero accountability and their focus isn't 100% football? You're not going to beat teams staffed with accountable, data-driven professionals who make improving the team their job around the clock.

This is why we see the same kind of mistakes OVER and OVER. Yet again we have another young, Jerry picked puppet coach. Where has Marty showed some great level of success? Should have went with Quinn instead of giving McCarthy another year.

Yea, the team got trounced against GB, but he came in, transformed the defense and got to a Superbowl. You give him a few years to see what he can do, and if he can't do anything, you take another shot.

Then you have the whole Trey Lance trade. Instead of letting Trey Lance get game experience and potentially having some leverage against an insane Dak contract by actually letting him play, he's just sitting on the bench. Dak gets injured and we put Cooper Rush in instead of seeing what Trey can do. 4th rounder down the drain and Cooper is also no longer on the team. How do you not evaluate this guy in a year when we know we're not winning anything?

We are supposed to be a balanced offense, but instead of getting a serious resource at RB like a Derrick Henry or Saquon, we get a microback in Deuce Vaughn, and this year we take another late round flyer at RB.

Now we give away a generational talent to a superbowl ready team that has bounced us out of the playoffs several times and in return, they will likely be giving us first round picks so late they might as well be 2nd rounders.

There's clearly no kind of sound football operational strategy and no player we bring in here can overcome that. Football is now about sound operation and a cohesive strategy. The FO is the MOST important aspect of modern football and it's the reason that no matter who we bring in, they will not be able to overcome the Jones boys lackadaisical approach to running the team.

The most you can expect these days is marketing hype and headline circuses

Do you believe it would have costs Dallas $47 million to sign Micah Parsons back in March? or last year for that matter?

I have to see the details of Parsons contract but my guess is it is not really a $47 million per year deal. I would also bet Jerry could have signed him for $37 million back in March. The waiting costs Jerry every time.

Cowboys save $45M a year for a player who doesn't show up for big games and can't stop the run.

Agreed - Forget the name on the back of the jersey.

Whatever he would’ve got is too much for 13 sacks and a liability in the run game.

Dude making more per year than Mahomes.

Shottenheimer is Campo. A middling coordinator who is now a head coach. Neither would sniff a job anywhere else. They got the job because Jerry wants a yes man. It might not be as bad but I expect to be less than 500 over the next 3-5 years. Looks like we will need another Netflix show about the glory days to stay relevant. Either way the old gremlin won't be around for ever and Stevie looks like his hard living is taking over.

All this said I am glad Parsons is gone.

He has special talent but part of me believes his body is going to break down from being an undersized LB being misused at DE. I think we started to some signs of it last season, but he may prove me wrong. Time will tell.

The bottom line is the problem goes way deeper than any trade that has happened. The end result will almost certainly be the same.

I like Micah, if he was still here, I'd defend, just because he's a Cowboy. He's gone, so to heck with him. Go Dak!!! Lol

Great Post, thank you.

Not in march, parsons was already wanting 40-42 and alot of it G.
What caused all this was cowboys using the 5th year option instead of extending him during or after year 3.
No one mentions it but parsons did not want to play a 5th year for 21 mil.
That is why GB paid him 47 mil, to make up for the 21 mil 2025. The extra $ is to bring up the pay for 2025 to the 42 mil avg.
Jerry just would not let go of making him play this year for 21 mil, and it led to this whole mess.

I have doubts about if he is worth that much, even 37 mil , but going to see what he does in GB.
Can he make an impact late in season, and in playoffs?? He didnt do that here.
Could be that they just used him too much, early on and in meaningless games.

I saw his contract does not really kick in until next year. He is apparently playing for $21 million this year. I am not sure if he gets a signing bonus on top of that but I read he will get $62 million in cash the first year of his contract.

We will have to wait and see how he plays in GB. But the Cowboys face the packers on September 28. How do we feel about Parsons lining up against Steele and Guyton? We are going to see what a motivated Micah Parsons going against 2 mediocre OTs looks like.

Correct Doomsday. I live in Michigan and some of my friends/family are all wound up about this because it sure doesn't help the Lions. I told them to be patient. MP will set the world on fire from Sept-Nov. but come December he'll be worn down again as you said. It's not overly complicated: he's undersized for a Dend.
