But I don't feel like Danny Glover in the Lethal Weapon movies when he makes his famous quote. I feel like Danny Glover in this movie instead when I heard the news that we traded the best pass rusher in the NFL before he even reached his prime. Business as usual being a Cowboys fan these days.
I know there are fans with many more years on them (god bless you) but I'm still old. And I've seen 500+ games of the Cowboys and very few games linger. But you know one game that does? The game against the Chargers when Micah Parsons in his second game in the NFL was called on to suddenly play out of position as a DE and wrecked havoc all day on the Chargers offensive line. Use whatever stat line you want, pressure, sacks (he only had 1) but that was his welcoming party to the NFL and if you loved the game, you loved watching that. That was also when I knew we had drafted a Hall of Famer. I remember that game because it's rare to see a defensive player dominate like that and just take over a game. Especially someone who just joined the NFL! D-Ware had some great games, no doubt, but I think I have to go back to guys like Roy Williams or Deion Sanders in their younger years to see one defensive player cause so much trouble for an offense.
One of the ESPN stat guys posted it. Even though Zimm had told us this would be a defense that helps Micah, he had no choice but to use him the same way DQ did if he wanted to win, and the defense went from worst when he wasn't there, to best when he was there and being rotated. Regardless of what the haters say about him in the playoffs, this WHOLE TEAM stinks in the Playoffs, EVERY YEAR, if you don't respect where #11 is he will kill you!
Was it a lot of money? Yeah, but so is EVERY freaking contract given to an athlete these days. Go cry to the system that makes it happen, not the player who just cashes in because they can. I don't understand how we pay Dak that much money when he's not even in the argument for best at his position like Parsons. I don't understand how Jerry Jones always gets his ego involved and screws up some type of move. I just watched that 90's Dynasty documentary where many times he admits he let himself get in the way of success, and the old man strikes again. The Boys are desperate and so goes our chances of maybe 3 first rounders, or something truly worthy of the Herschel Walker tag. I wonder if throwing that DT in was the deal breaker? Micah pays for the Cowboys unable to find a DT worth a damn the last few years. We basically got Hankins with 2 more years on him.
But bottomline is if you or any reasonable fan put money on those draft picks from the Packers, you would bet they are going end of 1st round at best. Jordan Love was hurt all year and still played all season in his sophomore slump. He is going to tear it up next year. And we traded Parsons to a Conference opponent who we would most likely meet in the Playoffs, and one who whipped the crap out of us. A team with the biggest financial disadvantages of any NFL franchise was able to jump in and basically get the best pass rusher in the NFL for 2 high 2nd round picks. If the Cowboys wanted to rebuild and get rid of star players, the time to do it was the day after that Green Bay stomping. We could have gotten value for a lot of players then. I don't understand what the point is right now of what they're doing. These feel like the Dave Campo years again.
