Imagine how Jerry Jones must feel...

After Aikman was forced to retired due to injuries (back & concussions), Jerry Jones tried so hard to find Aikman's successor. Not even going to list all those QBs (think it was 8) he brought to VR in hopes he could find that missing QB he so desperately needed. Of course he could have drafted a QB, but if you check out the record of those QBs drafted since 2002, it has been a disaster. Only about 7 out of 24 have emerged to remain starters on the team which drafted them. Unsuccessful teams spent millions in their efforts with same amount of success Jerry got -- nada.

If Jerry had only known during those years that he already had his future franchise QB on the team (in the person of a young undrafted QB from Eastern Illinois), he would probably have gone into shock. I really don't think he had a clue about Romo even though Sean Payton offered a 3rd rounder for Romo in the spring of 06. In refusing that offer Jerry obviously placed some value on Romo but no where near that Romo has become. I still remember how disappointed/dejected Jerry was when Parcells benched Bledsoe for Romo. I think Jerry sincerely believed the season was lost. If only he knew.

Can only imagine his shock as he saw Romo's performance against the Panthers, Colts & on Thanksgiving Day against the Bucs. As he watches Romo lead the Cowboys to 4-0 and hopefully to 5-0 after Monday night's game, he must be one of the happiest NFL owners around. He is one of the few NFL owners with a stable situation at QB cause he's got the best young QB in the NFL whose on his way to superstardom & hopefully many SB wins in his career.

Don't ever doubt for a moment that Jerry won't sign Romo to a new contract which benefits both sides. Jerry will remember what it felt to draft/sign Troy Aikman in 1989 and what followed. I'm sure the same thing is going through his mind as he stands ready to sign his next great QB.

People also need to remember that Aikman signed a $50 M contract back in the day. It was the highest contract ever at that time. He paid Deion a $15 M signing bonus which was also the highest ever at that time. He isn't going to stint when it comes to Romo. They are dickering over the length of the deal, the guaranteed money, and things like that.

Did anyone notice "Jordanesque" moment after his incredible run against the Rams? It was beautiful. After running out of bounds he bumps into a Rams player.. then as he lightly jogs back on to the field... looking back at the Rams bench he gives the classic shoulder shrug-- palms up.. as if to say apologetically I don't man..?? I guess I'm on fire? (Circa 1992 Finals as Jordan sank his 7th 3 pointer against Portland in the first half).

That contract came right before the last game of the 1993 season... the classic Emmitt shoulder separation game that got us home field throgh out. I'm thinking Romo gets his $$ towards the end of the season.

YOu mean that Rams lineman that put a forearm in Romo's chest?

If a cowboy had done that they would of been flagged 15 yards.

I thought it was Jordanesque in that it brought the entire crowd to it's feet and fired up the whole stadium. I haven't seen one individual effort do that since Emmitt was doing that.
Even after that play the whole team was fired up.
Romo has been putting in the work in the off-season and he is in the best shape physically he has ever been in and his play is showing it.
I always knew he was smart but his physical ability continually suprises me.

Jerry will take care of Romo. Jerry knows it, and Romo knows it. Romo's agent knows it, and it wouldn't surprise me if Carrie even knows it.
