He still has to call the plays. #1 Defense is overhyped? He wasn't a driving force behind Adalius Thomas' coming out party this year? See, this isn't a Mike Zimmer #1 defense, Baltimore actually fielded a feared defense.

Bring in a creative defensive guy, and hire someone with a good record with young QBs. I really think Jason Garret could be a positive hire.

What are you talking about? The Ravens defense got substantially better when Rex arrived! In the 1998 season the Ravens were 17th against the run, 24th against the pass, and 22nd in overall defense. The following year, (the year Rex arrived) they were ranked #2 in the league second only to the Bills.

Btw, he has been the DC for awhile. Even you have to give him some credit because their defense didn't stay good because the world kept spinning...

I think players are the product of the coach. In other words, we might have a Reed type on this team, we might have a Bart Scott, but under the present scheme, which is a read and react type, not an aggressive one, the players don't get to shine. They are not play makers, they are play stoppers.

I think it is not wise to say stuff like that, because under Ryan or Rivera, Watkins might be the second coming of Woodson. Its all about the coaching and schemes.

That is by far the best summary of our defense that I've ever heard. I agree 100%

Rex Ryan becoming our new HC would be a dream come true, we have loads of playmakers on defense. Ryan is a true 3-4 guy, who i know could make our defense one of the best(if not) the best in the NFL.

don't get me wrong, i'd like him as a HC to at least bring in the correct scheme and know what to do, but don't make him out to be a genuis.
