Sure, for flag football and Vegas action...

Gordon McGuinness of Pro Football Focus certainly feels that way. After the draft dust settled, he gave what Dallas did in terms of revamping their offensive line a rave review, naming them the second-most improved unit of its kind heading into the 2024 season.

The Cowboys needed help at multiple spots on their offensive line heading into the NFL draft and used two top-75 selections on the unit. Oklahoma’s Tyler Guyton looks set to man the left side of their offensive line, and while he is a bit of a project, having earned a 59.0 PFF pass-blocking grade on true pass sets last season, his athleticism gives him the chance to develop into a future star.
Dallas used a third-round pick on Kansas State’s Cooper Beebe, who earned a 91.8 PFF grade over the past three seasons to rank first among FBS guards, and grabbed Louisiana’s Nathan Thomas in the seventh round.

Analytics should've shown that they'd get the same guy they drafted 87 overall with the 94th overall and add a
pick at 130-something to draft a RB.

I'm happy with the player drafted at 87. I've stated he's my new favorite player. However, a 2 for 1 trade while dropping down 7 picks should've been made when offered.

The draft got executed the way it did no matter what did or didn't happen in FA prior to that event.

Yeah I guess that's what I'm trying to say. Without the foresight of how the players will do, I think our draft was a pretty successful bid.

Some fans and talking heads are going to view it as a failure because we didn't shore up some holes. But that's a FA 'failure' (FA isn't done, I guess).

The Cowboys have rounded out yet another draft class with the 2024 NFL Draft over and done now. However, unlike most years where there is a level of consensus around how the team did, this year’s class has proven to be rather divisive. Even the national sites that published grades for the Cowboys’ haul were pretty split on their opinion this year.

Some of that has to do with certain draft experts just not liking the players that Dallas selected, but much of it also has to do with the perception that the Cowboys didn’t fill enough needs through the draft. That second line of thought is fully at odds with the Cowboys’ philosophical approach to the draft, especially this year.

Shortly after the conclusion of the regular season, I took a deep dive into the Cowboys’ organizational overhaul of their analytics department that took place last offseason, as the team transitioned from a small, undermanned unit led by Tom Robinson to what is now one of the largest analytics departments in the league, headed up by John Park. Yeah taking Lloyd didnt have value with that 2nd 3rd round pick - But GB took him with the very next pick, probably couldn't believe Dallas passed on him. Some had him rated as the best RB in the draft.

I don’t care about GB and their scouts. If that is what they did, then they think they did the right thing.

To me it seems like the athletic testing numbers of RAS/combine drills are taking precedence over actual game tape against live opponents.

Lots of good athletes but we'll see how many turn out to be good football players.
