Not giving up on the Cowboys; they played better then I thought they would given their 2 sluggish performances against the Eagles & Lions. We were in this game all the way & could have won it. I do expect the Cowboys to win the NFC East this year & win at least 1 game in the playoffs but I think we can win the SB next year if we do the following:
We all know what are 2 problems areas have been the whole season and there little we can do about it until the offseason but we need to 1) Pick up a reliable FG kicker, and 2) Significantly upgrade our OL. Don't know how much cap space we have available, but if there are quality FA veterans (who aren't as old as methusala (sp?) available at center & FG kicker, JJ needs sign them & I know he will do what has to be done. FA veteran upgrades at these 2 positions significantly improves the team immediately.
Don't know how good the young backups on our OL are, but if we don't have at least 1 quality OG to replace/succeed/challenge Larry Allen & Rivera in 2006, we better use high draft pick to get one cause doubt either will be here in 2007. Adams is ok at LT with all his failings & hopefully Pettiti (has probably hit rookie wall already this year) will step up next year after offseason conditioning, etc, but we still need a quality 3rd OT who could step in w/o losing a step. Tucker is not the man and don't know if recent OT pickup Marc Colombo even has remote chance to regain his former first round physical ability. We will probably draft around 25th pick & we have all our first 3 round picks, none in 4th but 2 picks in 5th. I'd like to use first 3 picks to improve our offense by drafting an OG, OT & a WR (not in that order) & spend second day picks on defense (specifically FS, CB, OLB).
