New here...but got opinion like everyone else.
Did we improve 1 game? One win and the G-Man stayed home last year.....but that was last year! So my take on this off season...
1. Our defense got better without a doubt-anyone that thinks otherwise is foolish. Now I know everyone and their mother wanted a space eating NT-hell I wanted us to trade up in 4th to grab Ta'amu so bad I could taste it. But lets be honest-we lost divisional games last year on pass defense(we couldn't cover hashbrowns at waffle house). So lets get over the d-line issues and be damn happy we got better in our secondary. I honestly see 6 new starters on defense.
2. How much help was needed on offense to improve? Yes I thought DeCastro and Kunz would have been like winning the lottery....cause we could've had both right now! But how many games did we improve with free agent signings? And now UDFA's? I know the VT WR And OU TE are picks that I'm extremely fond of right about now. So maybe our line jell's....if not no way did we regress though. Murray's ankle injury scares the heck out of me.....but WE ARE BETTER on this side than last.
3. I'm going to give JG a pass on some stupid calls last year....how many of us are perfect in our jobs? Some of us have zero room for errors....but its the nature of football to err and correct mistakes. I don't think he gives away 3 wins this year......sorry just don't see it- hes mad cause people laughed at him last year.

When asked by reporters what Jimmy Johnson needed for the '93 Cowboys to be better than the 1992 Cowboys, he simply stated all they needed to do was be the best team in the league.

It's the same here. Yeah, 9-7 may have won us the division last year, but it won't this year. We've got the world champions in our division and the Eagles have been way too quiet for my taste. The Dallas Cowboys need to win the games that are scheduled.

Mmh. I would agree that our pass coverage got better, but our pass defense overall remains to be seen. The reason why the Giants were able to go to the Super Bowl this year is they got push up the middle. If a quarterback can't step into a clean pocket, he gets uncomfortable. A secondary can't cover forever.

I think Callahan is going to put a system in place and they'll be markedly better. But I'm still concerned about the interior linemen. Where's a guard as dynamic as Free or Smith on our roster right now? Heck, I'd take a center as dynamic as those two. Yes, I know Free sucked last year, but I'm fairly confident that was an anomaly.

You know, in spite of poor line play on both sides and a secondary more toasted than Mark Stepnoski, Cheech, Chong, Harold, and Kumar at the NORML All-Stars convention, we were one game away from the playoffs had Garrett not been a moron A) against Detroit (that's on Romo too), B) against the Cheatriots, and C) against the Cardinals. It's amazing how close we were with that team which was nothing more than a pretty facade with termite rot at its core.

We'll see. I have to say I'm pretty excited about the season, and I haven't looked forward to a Cowboys opener since 2009 -- yeah, 2009. I didn't even look forward to the 2010 season, even though we won a playoff game the year prior.

LOL....For some reason, this part made me really laugh!!! Great read BTW....

The season hinges on Bruce Carter, and the interior OL. Good with everyone else.

I love a lot of the offseason moves to improve our defense this year, I'm still not crazy about the offensive line but I think the problems on defense last year were the most important things to fix first. Hopefully we get the O-line straightened out now.
