In 2025 can we trust Jerry and Stephen with a lot of cap space?

Can we trust them to spend on the RIGHT kind of guys, can we trust that there won't be a lot of off season word salad press conferences saying we DON'T have the money, when a site like over the cap tells us otherwise. Can they be trusted to take a peak at the top of the barrel and not the bottom barrel of players in free agency?

With their history i'm unsure, someone please post your thoughts and trust level on these 2 geniuses we have here!!!!

Right kind of guys according to who? The fans always think they have all the answers. The Jones clan run the team and they run it as they see fit. When your not happy with McDonalds and complain about them, it doesn't do any good because they simply don't care. The Cowboys operate no differently. Trust them or don't trust them. Because it doesn't matter. In the end, it just doesn't matter.

Really doesn't like you're an advocate of them firing Mike from Pittsburgh, if he's not it doesn't matter

Pretty much covered it all. No need for any further responses to this thread.

I'm not sure the Cowboys have a lot of cap space in 2025 to be honest. Can they create it? Yes. Are there a lot of great options to restructure? A couple but not a ton. Even some of the cut candidates that have been mentioned like Steele I think are not guaranteed to happen. If a new coaching staff wants to keep Tyler Smith at G you almost have to keep him because it would be more expensive to sign a replacement for him.

IDK, is Micah the RKG? We'll spend a monstrous chunk of any cap space on him. How about Tyler Smith? Wanna keep him? How about Osa?

it's being said that they can create close to 100 million do I ever think they'll use it hell no, they just don't want to spend, they want to draft and see if they ONLY are enough to make Superbowl runs

forget Micah and OSA, OSA can go to washington as the Commanders cut one of their DT's in the off-season

I might check the sources on that $100M they are going to create. Can they do it? I'm sure they can, any team in the league could if they really wanted to. The Cowboys kicking a ton of money into future years though restructures though just doesnt make a ton of sense to me. It frees up space now, but where are you gonna put that extra $100M? Kicking more money into 2026/2027/2028 just jams the cap and makes it tougher to sign Parsons/Overshown/Smith/Bland/etc who are going to require multi year deals who ideally you would also make their deals back heavy.

Thats the issue is we really didn't clear the books. Jerry/Stephen handled this offseason in the literal worst way possible, and that is not directed at all towards Lamb or Dak as players. The issue is they really didnt pick a direction to go at all. They could have done a true reset year, or they also have the cap flex to be aggressive and try to get over the hump. They did neither and put us in a terrible spot for 2024 and a not impossible but tougher than you would like position for the next couple years.

This is before any moves but going into 2025 the Cowboys already have the 6th highest cap number in the league. 2026 they are 15th and in 2027 they are 9th. The whole cap reset thing really didn't happen as the next three years they are already in the top half of the league in cap space used. You also have to sign Parsons/Smith/Overshown/Bland and possibly others like Osa, Dowdle, Ferg, Hoffman.

The Cowboys are the only team in the league who can never make moves and still not have money to spend.
