In 2025 can we trust Jerry and Stephen with a lot of cap space?

Can we trust them to spend on the RIGHT kind of guys, can we trust that there won't be a lot of off season word salad press conferences saying we DON'T have the money, when a site like over the cap tells us otherwise. Can they be trusted to take a peak at the top of the barrel and not the bottom barrel of players in free agency?

With their history i'm unsure, someone please post your thoughts and trust level on these 2 geniuses we have here!!!!
Of course

Kinda question is that

Almost certain June 1 cut: Steele

Possible June 1 cut: Diggs

I dont see Jerry extending CD. that money was already spent.

Parsons will get paid though. But they will need Dak's 2026+ money to pay for it.

Dak might get a June 1 cut in March 2026.

They have to pay Osa.

Lance, Lewis, Seig, Hoffman, Bell, and Turpin need $$$ to stay also.

Its tight.

Paying OSA anything more than a middling contract would be silly.

They are not broke.

Restructure Lamb
Extend Micah
Cut Steele.

You add about 45 million in cap space just off those moves. Give or take a bit depending on the details of Lamb’s restructure and Micah’s
Extension.

You’re now at 70 million cap space without even touching Daks contract.

They are not broke. Not even close to it.
The problem with this is that there are already 13 teams with more cap space than that next year (including rollover) that do not need to cut or restructure anyone (and several more in that ballpark). And, to add to that, only two of them have less players already under contract for 2025 than they Cowboys do at 40 (The Commanders have 32 but they already have $120 million next year with rollover, and the Raiders who well, are the Raiders).

Cutting Steele as a June 1st cut would save $14 million but you cannot use it until after June 1st (so it won't help FA until camp).

No we are not broke, but we are still well behind nearly half the league who do not need to create space. As it stands right now we are 22nd(ish) in cap space next year, rollover included. So while we can make space, there are many teams with plenty of space to do what they want in FA and not have to mortgage the future to do so (the way we would need to if we want to be bigger players in FA).

There’s plenty of cap space for them to actually do things in free agency. They CHOOSE not to.

Nowhere in any of my posts do I say they have more cap space than any number of other teams. But the cowboys absolutely can do something/anything in free agency and actually sign some players worth a damn.

They just don’t because that’s who the Jones’ are.

Instead they’ll talk about pieces of the pie and gaslight fans into thinking their hands are tied which couldn’t be further from the truth.

Then they’ll go dumpster diving for vet minimum level players and try to sell them as answers.

You mean the guys that have wasted the last two 4th rounds picks for, at this point, basically nothing? The two buffoons that insist on ONLY building the team through the draft without addressing holes in the roster through quality free agents? The guys that thought Zeke would have a resurgence? The ones that have led this team to basically nothing over the past almost 30 years? Oh, and let's not forget our 240 million dollar man that has looked like trash since he was signed.

Ya, no I don't think you can trust them to do anything but take your money

They must spend a minimum amount. Again, fans think they are cheap, but yet here we are talking about how they are up against the cap.

Yes it is how they distribute the money, but that is not what the fans think it is. They can rearrange that allocation.
As @big dog cowboy posted, it doesn't really matter. In March we will all be here posting the same stuff we always posted.
Maybe they will surprise us though.
I wouldn't trust a thing that guy says, please don't ever reference him to a post of mine!!! Lol lol

The surprise would be shocking, like I said, I just don't want us getting guys just because they're the loaded with money and can do so. Make sure these guys fit well and have attributes in their game that can actually help us

Not a lot of free cap $$$ for 2025.

mostly because of Dak.

Cap boy is not going to spend a single penny on a legit free agent, just bargin bin scrubs.

So it doesnt matter how much cap space they do or do not have.
