Mid level FA's will be getting paid more than Peyton Manning in his his prime.

Accept it . Sign of the times.

Don't feel sorry for JJ. For every million he spends he makes 2 mil from the Cowboys. Don't sweat the cap, it ain't coming out of your pocket.

If we didn't sign LD and Hopefully Colombo you'd all be crying. Got to help this OL at all costs.

Don't worry be happy.

I know what you mean, but technically as a fan if you watch NFL games on tv, buy NFL merchandise or attend NFL games then that is your money. Because other than commercial sponsorships that's where it comes from.

i dont question them, and yeah if spending it all means winning the super bowl guaranteed then obviously do it.

but thats never a guarantee so yeah I do care if JJ messes up the cap and screws my cowboys, if you dont then youre just a fairweather fan

I would be extremely careful when tossing around the term "fairweather fan" ........whether or not a Cowboy Fan agrees or disagrees with JJ in his spending for players to make this team better does not justify that characterization.

It is like that in every era of pro sports. You simply can't compare things like salary across even a 5 year span -- inflation bumps everything up 2-3%ish a year and every new TV contract sees a huge jump in revenue. It is only right that the players get paid. They are after all the ones we tune in to see.

I'm with latin mind on this one guys, surprisingly.

We needed help on the oline and I beleive this is an upgrade.

It takes money to make money and signing LD and hopefully Columbo will result in "making money."

Of course there will be a new TV deal in what- 3 years?
That one might not be for more money- or even less. A lot of possibilities. the Cap might end up freezing for a few years.

The NFL is the BIG DOG of all sports in the U.S. I see/read nothing to indicate that it's on the down swing. The next TV deal will even be better than what they have now. Let's face it, the NFL is a juggernaut that won't be stopped in the near future.....

You don't get it. The major networks are not raking in major increases in revenue anymore. their audience is shrinking. In 3 years its very likely that they will not be able to anty up like they have. even with cable and sat money it might be less- or only a little more. One should NOT count on the current major cap increases after the next TV contract.

Oh man, if el dorado could not come in and take us to the SB you think an Olineman will? You are funny. How bout a good team of 53 players and we will have a good chance of going to the SB, but no one player will take us there. Please, dont make promises you cant keep. Had my fill of that with the most super duper receiver to ever drop a pass, and we see how close el dorado got us to the superbowl.

If the cap is going to be that large in a few years then there is no reason not to sign Davis.

There has to be a reason all these guys are getting these contracts because so many teams could not be this stupid.

A lot of these contracts are being structured the same way too I believe?

I cant wait to see Davis in Dallas and hopefully he can turn it up a level on a team that is expected to win in his home state.

That could be the case although I'm not inclined to think so. Anyways, every team will basically be in the same boats regardless. For all of JJ's faults, being able to manage the cap is no longer one of them. If he thinks it'll be ok to sign Davis at this price and still be ok for the future, then I'll go w/ that.....

Check it out. The major networks revenue increases have been small over the last 3 years. Their share of the total audience is shrinking. And expenses are rising- shows and stars are costing more and more. As I pointed out, even with Directv and the cable systems pumping money into the NFL, it is very likely that there will be only a small increase in the next TV contract. That was mentioned at the signing of the last contract. Unless the NFL happens on a new source, the cap will not be rising at the current rate under the new contract.
