Ok, in 1991, we won our first playoff game against the bears, then got destroyed against the lions. If you remember was by the lions qb tearing our secondary apart. (in jerry jones press conference jerry eluded to this with the cowboys winning that first playoff game in 91, then getting destroyed in the passing game by the lions QB, )

How can we repeat that part of history or improve our team. Granted we had a great draft in 92 too, but the key to me was getting charles haley a great pass rusher and thomas everett a great playmaker on defense that took the ball away either by interceptions or fumbles.

Who can we get this year to help us like that? I was thinking that maybe we can get a player like from the seattle seahawks, or the Commanders or a team that has a new head coach. You might see some action with the chargers with norv turner losing. So, since we cant sign any top free agents due to the new NFL rule that the top 8 seed playoff teams cant sign top free agents. Who do you see that we might possibly be able to trade for and improve our team.

Next question I have is this, as I understand the NFL rule, you can only sign as many free agents as you lose, but not any more. WE have on our team c gordon cb, cory proctor, pat mcquistan, duke preston, *barber who might be trade material*, montrae holland, and curtis johnson. Out of the offensive linemen I know we probably at least keep 2, so that still leaves u with 2 offensive linemen cut, add in cletis gordon, and possibly curtis johnson, thats 3 to 4 players cut along with suisham, but we still need a kicker, so if we cut those 3 to 4 players, can we sign some top free agents when were allowed to sign free agents?

My other question is this, free agency was suppose to award players the right to sign with other teams after their free agency period hit. But with Goodell and the NFL making the NFL rule that the top 8 seeded teams in the playoffs not being allowed to sign free agents, doesnt that violate the free agency players rights, since he or the top free agent cant sign with 8 NFL teams? Isnt that violation of free agency?

Next, as most of you I am ticked off about the vikings and farve running up the score and farve telling romo some stuff etc. With the supposedly NFL suspension that was suppose to be tacked on by the NFL towards Pat Williams and Kevin Williams with 6 to 8 NFL games this year, how can we as NFL fans see that suspension is taken place this year? Would suit me to no end for the saints to tear the vikings up now, and then the vikings lose pat williams and kevin williams to 6 to 8 games next year?

Find the next Jimmy Johnson to coach the team and/or make personnel decisions.

More offensive line help, kick returner/punt returner, a coach who can coach the offensive coordinator and other coaches.

The Cowboys need major changes on the offensive line.

RT
LG (I'd let Kosier walk;he's been solid but not spectacular.

LT (Draft at least 2)

I'd start Free some where.

I would have pulled Colombo today for Free, but Adams got hurt.

When Adams went down, Dallas couldn't block them anymore.

In 91 we had the right coaching staff in place and needed to upgrade the roster. Now the roster is good with poor coaching. Our best upgrade would be to replace the staff.

Another specious 1991 reference. Must be something in the water tonight.

true, i agree with that, but we need a playmaker on defense, a guy that can take the ball away, force issue, like a ed reed or polymalu or a thomas everett, a guy that is always around the ball

and comes up with it in big games; now dont get all hot and bothered, but im throwing 2 names out there for example, owen schmidt fullback and walter jones ot with seattle. Granted dont think the seahawks would trade schmidt or even getting walter jones who is too old now and washed up, but im giving examples. What player might have pushed his team too far but is like a young charles haley that we can get to thelp this team take the next step. Another guy for example would be merrimann, just an example though.

We might find an offensive linemen that is relatively young like a leonard davis, or somebody like that or another top young cb that can help us, just giving examples, so asking your input and thoughts.

Given we're in the final 8, we may have to target someone cut or have to wait until one of our FAs is picked up.

What do you mean by this? What did Favre supposedly tell Romo?

There are absolutely no substantive similarities between this current team and the 1991 team. None. The comparison is completely superficial.

Seems like I remember Barry Sanders running roughshod in that game. I remember him being surrounded by four Cowboys, bouncing off of one, and running straight for the end-zone. It was the closest the Lions have ever gotten to the Super Bowl and probably the closest they ever will get.

That Barry TD came when the game was already over. Erik Kramer already did his damage to give them the 31-6 lead. I actually remember Tony Casillas stood around and stopped playing during the Barry run just before he broke free and scored. I thought about that same play when I saw Sensabaugh just watched Sidney Rice score the first TD right next him.

i heard by rumor that favre said romo wasnt a winner type of qb, and was still wet behind the ears. I am looking for confirmation on that, so dont quote me on it, trying to find it on espn.

thats what jerry jones eluded to, that we shut down the lions in that game, by stopping barry sanders which we did, but the lions passing game killed us, just like in that game, with favre passing.

jerry went on to say that he didnt think favre could do it to our defense again, and he thought our defense was real close to being a very good nasty defense. Thats why i asked how we can improve our defense, like we did in 92 when we traded for charles haley and thomas everett.
