In 95 our biggest threat, the 49ers, got knocked off before we played them, can it happen again?

In the 95 playoffs the Whiners lost prior to the NFC Championship game. We beat the Packers in the NFC Championship game at home in a high scoring game to head to the Superbowl. We matched up much better vs the Packers than the Whiners. I remember hoping the Whiners would lose, so our road to the Superbowl would be a little easier. Our 95 team was formidable, but it had more holes than the 92 and 93 teams.

This year we have a formidable team, but not the odds on favorite to reach the Superbowl from the NFC! If we take care of business and win 2 home games AND the Rams beat Detroit( which I think will happen) then beat the Whiners( I think the Rams matchup well vs the Whiners AND know them very well), we will be home vs the Rams in the NFC Championship game!!!

If we meet the Rams in the NFC Championship WE will be the favorites to reach the Superbowl!!!!

The Rams beating the Whiners, in that so called, meaningless game for Whiners, the last game of the season could be huge.

Shanahan won’t admit it, but I bet deep down he was really disappointed his team didn’t come back and beat the Rams in that meaningless game!

So now we're looking for the Rams to do the dirty work for us in the playoffs?
How about before the kickoff all the Raven players in the SB get food poisoning would that make some of you happy?
Man, this is NOT what this proud franchise of ours is about and hopefully win or lose we stand on our own Merritts and Pride and just WIN baby!!!

I gotta say I’m much more concerned about the cowboys winning this first game.

I have to view these playoffs in a one game at a time mind frame. If they win this week and next then I’ll worry about their opponent if it’s the Niners or not.

I think the 49ers are vulnerable to a team that can score quickly. They’ve won most of their games with a lead and that defense. If a team gets a lead or stays with them then the 49ers have not been good at coming from behind or going blow for blow. They’re good at grabbing a lead early and holding it.

So a team with a high powered offense that can put up points early, like us, Rams or even Philly poses a threat. Look at the times they lost. They lost when the opponent kept it close or got a lead.

Someone like the Rams can give them a run because with Stafford, Kupp and that other WR they can score quickly. I haven’t seen Purdy play from behind. The 49ers are great when they control all aspects of the game but when something unexpected happens then they looked very beatable. When Cleveland controlled the 49ers running game they lost. Albeit with CMC was out, but Purdy didn’t beat the Browns defense without CMC. The Ravens intercepted Purdy 4 times.

Point is they are beatable anyone but especially with teams that can put up points because they are not good playing close games. I’m excited to see what we can do this time around with the improved play of CD, the emergence of Cooks and Ferguson. The first time we played them all they had to do was shut down CD. Now they got Cooks and Ferguson to worry about and Dak has been scoring from all over the field.

Only problem with this idea is, I legitimately think the rams are the only team that has any chance vs sf in the div round. So if the rams lose to Det, imo, there is no prayer sf loses in the divisional round. I don’t think Philly or TB had a shot to beat them.

Officials took the Cowboys out of the game before it started. No way Dallas was going to get ahead that day.

49ers had our number once Jimmy left as they beat us in the regular season in 94, in the NFCCG in 94, and again in the 95 reg season (with Elvis Gerbac no less).

I remember telling myself the only way we win the Super Bowl is for the 49ers to get bounced.

Divisional Round vs GB, 49ers very first possession/drive and first play, GB gets a fumble recovery for a TD and I remember laughing to my brother and looking st
Him saying “cowboys just won the SB.”

Anyway, back to reality, the 49ers have had our number just like they did in the past. The only way to get to the SB is to hope someone takes them out before we play them

Another way to look at it is had it not been for the 95 Packers, the Cowboys were probably not going to beat the 49ers in the playoffs and there may have never been a third SB in the 90s. I watched the 49ers dismantle the Cowboys during the 1995 regular season. The 49ers that year were not the best team obviously but it also felt like the Cowboys didn't match up.

The Eagles are going to beat the Bucs.

The question is, can they beat the 49ers in the playoffs?

The Eagles proved they could do it last season......if Purdy goes out with an injury.

I know this may sound crazy but I think Philly has a chance too. Philly would have to be at it's absolute best to do it but they have the talent capable of beating SF.

If it's Tampa they have no shot. That's why if Detroit beats the Rams then I will be rooting for Philly. Yuck did I type that.

I strongly believe the Rams will take down the Lions. The Eagles are currently a disaster. Not playing well late in the season and multiple injuries.

SF whipped Philthy in their own yard. This year.
They'd crush them at home. I think Baker's Bucs
beat them this week.

A glorious crash and burn. Cry Eagles Cry.

There‘s only one guarantee almost every single year in the playoffs - there will be an upset. Hopefully not at AT&T Sunday, but somewhere else in the next few weeks.

I remember the Ravens got crushed by the Broncos in 2012 at home and then in the playoffs went into Denver and eliminated the Broncos. I know this is a rare exception but the playoffs are different sometimes.
