In 95 our biggest threat, the 49ers, got knocked off before we played them, can it happen again?

I strongly believe the Rams will take down the Lions. The Eagles are currently a disaster. Not playing well late in the season and multiple injuries.
SF whipped Philthy in their own yard. This year.
They'd crush them at home. I think Baker's Bucs
beat them this week.

A glorious crash and burn. Cry Eagles Cry.
That should be the consensus and, yet,......

This is a team that still has a lot of pride. i think they are listening to all the criticism and circling the horses. I think the next Eagles game we see will be a team that is focused. The Eagles have a way of lingering around longer than they should.

However, if the Rams defeat the Lions then that would be better.

The Cowboys would host the Eagles and the 49ers would host the Rams. I think the Rams could take them.

I wish but I really believe the 49ers have just been kinda hanging around waiting for the playoffs.

So now we're looking for the Rams to do the dirty work for us in the playoffs?
How about before the kickoff all the Raven players in the SB get food poisoning would that make some of you happy?
Man, this is NOT what this proud franchise of ours is about and hopefully win or lose we stand on our own Merritts and Pride and just WIN baby!!!
Pappy please don't kid yourself
This was a proud franchise when Tom Landry and Roger Staubach were at the helm and took us into the playoffs year after year.

Merits and pride went out the window long ago when military trained men stopped leading this team. It's all about maximizing profit at all cost

Now this is Jerry's franchise and everything is done Jerry's way and the fact that he won't push all the chips to the table and go all out and get all the talent necessary to win a super bowl we are going to have to count on luck and The perfect Storm to get us over the hump.

Jerry's teams are built to make the playoffs and stay relevant the fact the eagles totally tanked and went down the tube give us a chance to go further because we have games at home at 10-1 they could have easily won the division and had home field advantage leaving us playing on the road and probably coming home early.

That said the stars are aligning for us and if the Rams beat the 49ers which is very possible since they know them well I'm not complaining one bit

I have said many times we would need the perfect storm and a lot of luck to get to the super bowl maybe this year it actually happens and enough teams actually have bad luck that we can survive in spite of our owners lack of commitment.

If the 49ers are to be eliminated in the divisional round, the Rams are the team to do it. So we have to hope the Rams go to Detroit and are victorious and we have to beat the Packers and then whoever the winner of the Eagles at Tampa Bay matchup is. Then the NFCC game is ours to host vs the Rams.

Only problem with this idea is, I legitimately think the rams are the only team that has any chance vs sf in the div round. So if the rams lose to Det, imo, there is no prayer sf loses in the divisional round. I don’t think Philly or TB had a shot to beat them.
Assuming we beat the Packers, the winner of the Philly/TB game would come to us so we don't even have to speculate if one of those teams can beat SF. But you are right, the Rams are our best hope to see SF get beat in the divisional round, so we must root for them to beat the Lions.

In the 95 playoffs the Whiners lost prior to the NFC Championship game. We beat the Packers in the NFC Championship game at home in a high scoring game to head to the Superbowl. We matched up much better vs the Packers than the Whiners. I remember hoping the Whiners would lose, so our road to the Superbowl would be a little easier. Our 95 team was formidable, but it had more holes than the 92 and 93 teams.

This year we have a formidable team, but not the odds on favorite to reach the Superbowl from the NFC! If we take care of business and win 2 home games AND the Rams beat Detroit( which I think will happen) then beat the Whiners( I think the Rams matchup well vs the Whiners AND know them very well), we will be home vs the Rams in the NFC Championship game!!!

If we meet the Rams in the NFC Championship WE will be the favorites to reach the Superbowl!!!!

The Rams beating the Whiners, in that so called, meaningless game for Whiners, the last game of the season could be huge.

Shanahan won’t admit it, but I bet deep down he was really disappointed his team didn’t come back and beat the Rams in that meaningless game!
IMO, the Rams and the Lions would each have a decent shot at knocking off the 49ers. They wouldn't be favored, but they match up well enough to be able to play them close, and then anything could happen. I wouldn't count the Cowboys out against them either. We have a terrible recent record against them, but the Cowboys are playing great now. Plus, you never know what will happen with injury. When McCaffrey and Debo were injured, Brock Purdy played as if he were a naked statue. I'm not one of these who claim that Purdy is only good because of his system. He is a highly capable quarterback. But it is possible to rattle him. Get some pressure on him, and he can make mistakes.
...
However, I'm not too concerned with that right now. If we don't beat the Packers, it's a moot point.

That's exactly what most of us are hoping for. The Rams to knock off the 49ers. Back in '95, once the Packers beat the 49ers, I knew we were returning to the SB.

But don't forget, the Cowboys weren't expected to beat the 49ers in '92 either. The 49ers made some untimely mistakes. That's all it takes.

I know this may sound crazy but I think Philly has a chance too. Philly would have to be at it's absolute best to do it but they have the talent capable of beating SF.

If it's Tampa they have no shot. That's why if Detroit beats the Rams then I will be rooting for Philly. Yuck did I type that.
It’s a fair argument but I can’t see it. They’ve packed it in

We’re going to beat whoever comes across our path. That’s the way to look at it confidence.

I want face the 49ers again, as this is the team's final hurdle to breakthrough. Kind of like Jordan against the Pistons.

Would be nice to have the easiest path possible. Would also be nice to get some pay back. As long as we keep winning it's all good with me.

Agreed it is very hard to see. They would to beat their best and luckiest when they started out 10-0. Now if the Rams beat the Lions I won’t give a crap who wins the game.

The Eagles are going to beat the Bucs.

The question is, can they beat the 49ers in the playoffs?

The Eagles proved they could do it last season......if Purdy goes out with an injury.
They finished the year going 1-5 in the last 6, and didn't look good in the process. I wouldn't count on them beating anyone right now.

Hopefully. I still remember where I was during that SF and Green Bay playoff game that year and celebrating like a maniac when Green Bay punched their ticket to make the championship game in Dallas.

SF would’ve destroyed that Cowboys team again that year if they’d had the chance.

That Super Bowl 30 team was soo inconsistent . Jerry sold his soul for that trophy it seems.

I remember the Ravens got crushed by the Broncos in 2012 at home and then in the playoffs went into Denver and eliminated the Broncos. I know this is a rare exception but the playoffs are different sometimes.
It happens on occasion.
Everyone remembers the niners winning the nfc championship game in 81. Montana to Clark, the catch game.
What most forgot is that around mid season, that niners had destroyed a good cowboys team 45-14 that season. Even though we didn’t beat them that year, it was a totally different game that we controlled and should have won.

That's the big difference vs 95. AFC was much weaker than NFC in those days. I think AFC is stronger than NFC in 2023.

So even if you get lucky and the Niners knocked off, you still face maybe the only truly dominant team this year - The Ravens.
