In all honesty, how well did either defense really play....

Even though it seemed like a defensive battle and a low scoring game, i think it was more bad offense than good defense, on both sides.

Orton missed a lot of open guys too, until late in the fourth quarter. Early on he had gaffney for a huge gain on the post, but simply missed him. Had a touchdown chance to somebody, forget his name, in the corner of the endzone but overthrew it. By the way, anyone hear aikman say that orton had the best looking friday practice he has ever seen since watching joe montana

Romo missed guys all day long too. So i would not say this was great defense. It was more a game of missed opportunities on offense.

The Denver O missed some opportunities, to be sure. Every single team in the league does that. The Cowboys D played well yesterday, I thought. They came up with some clutch stops in the second half.

Unfortunately the offense proceeded to look like the Browns and gave the ball right back. An afternoon of 3 and outs and the "Mile High" air (yes it DOES have an effect), and the defense just couldn't finish it out. Honestly, defensively, I think it was that simple.

Also, a lot of the broncos drives there self destructed because of penalties. Now i'm not saying that's why we stopped them, because i don't know if the illegal action had a result on the outcome of the play or not, but at the same time, they helped us out quite a bit. I think the defense played decent, but not as good as the score would lead us to believe.

But yeah, no help from the offense doesn't help the cause.

yep. for our D so far the answers we're getting are:

1) still a work in progress. at this point we should be past that.
2) brooking was a very nice pick up.
3) ware has got to be feeling some pressure for that 1st sack.
4) our secondary is getting better and jenkins is looking like the real deal with more experience.
5) we're having the most problems stopping the run it would seem. we let a bunch of jabronies have good games against us, then we turn around and stop the run. it seems we stop one at the expense of the other. it's just not coming together.

the real deal to me is we're just disorganized and not on the same page. that's not the players, that's the coaching staff.

i have no idea how well the Denver D played last night because romo never challenged them or overthew just about every receiver. romo was the Denver D's best player.

Good grief. Those missed passes you talk about happen in every game.

Both defenses played pretty well, except for ours on the last big play to Marshall.

But the offense has to help out. You can't turn the ball over inside your own 10. You just can't do it.

We scored 10 points, genius. Any team short of the 85 Bears loses a game like that. Hate on the defense all you want, but when your putrid offense is contributing to the tune of 10 points, you'll be lucky to win 3 games. The ONLY reason we beat Carolina is because the DEFENSE slammed the door. Romo and Co. were atrocious last week, too. That's two weeks in a row that the O has let teams stick around. The defense played well enough to open a window for the offense to be up by atleast 10-14 points before the Broncos would have a chance.

Dallas D just doesn't make plays. I give them a lot of credit on the 3rd and short and 4th and short stops yesterday. Spencer sticks out to me as the real reason this game wasn't over at the half. He let a cookie pick six go right through his hands to moreno for six.(14 point swing). Game over if we go up 17-0. A lot of NFL players make that play. Still cant see how you let that ball go through your hands as a pro athlete. I know he plays defense but my 12 year old makes that catch.

Did the defense dominate the game yesterday,no.But did they play well enough to win,yes.When the offense only has 60yds of total offense in the 2nd. half(prior last drive) you are asking to get beat.

Dallas allowed 1 TD the entire game on Defense but it was at the key part of the game, it was crunch time baby and they melted again, that's what weakminded teams do.

He dinked and dunked a lot of those passes and the defense was pretty stout at stopping any run after the catch yardage.

Don't rely on a stats page to tell you the whole story.

I'm not, and I generally don't. But 20/29 and missing open receivers means someone was always open.
