He's a great blocker, able receiver, and most athletic of all our TE's. He has a huge upside, and while he's just now getting healthy, I expect he'll have a key role in the playoffs.
If Witten went down in the last game or the first quarter of the playoff game, would you be content with only Phillips, the rookie? How valuable would that next April #1 in your pocket feel as you watched our playoff hopes go down the toilet.
Before his injury, MB was blocking his tail off...he was catching the ball when thrown to him, and on a few occasions showed he's a much more dangerous runner with the ball in his hands than Witten.
