Week ago today, Jimmy evidently spoke from primary source insight that the contest was between...
At first when we learned that Schotty, indeed, was going to be interviewed, my inclination was that Jimmy had been successfully persuasive. But I couldn't fathom Schotty being a real candidate for HC... for OC, sure... but not for HC. And re-watching Jimmy's segment, I at first was left to think that Jimmy wasn't just promoting Schotty, he was promoting both guys, as he was mainly promoting continuity for Dak's sake. That would make so much more sense.
Fast forward to what we know this morning, a week later, and what have we learned.
Several things, but one is that we need to listen to Jimmy anytime he speaks about the Cowboys going forward. If he was speculating before, he's not now. The evidence says that he and Jerry are very much in communication with each other now, and while it might be an overstatement to consider him an ex-officio member of the front office now, it might not be an overstatement to even consider him, very much, a consultant.
- Kellen Moore... who we already presumed, of course, to be legitimately a finalist... and
- You Know Who... who we had no clue was even ever going to be interviewed.
