There is confusion here over talent, money, decisions, etc

From his actions Jerry has made it very clear.

Brand over performance.

He's gonna win Jerry way or not win at all.

Simple as that.

Once you realize that fact you either support that or not.

I’m not saying MM is the end all be all but he seems to be an improvement over the guys we have had since JJ (other than Parcells). When MM gets fired —let’s be honest here—-do you guys REALLY expect a knock it out of the park hire?

We can probably win a SB with MM. But I’m not sure we can win a SB with Dak. He’s just not very good against good teams. He’s a stat padder against bad teams.
We cannot win a SB with MM.

He had Aaron Rodgers in his prime and squeaked out one SB and then largely just flatlined.

He’s a mediocre coach. Like Dak is a mediocre QB.

Good coaching can maximize talent. But even great coaching cannot rescue a team that lacks talent at so many positions.

It is amazingly arrogant for our GM to watch multiple talented and key members of this team walk last off-season, then replace that talent with untested rookies and cheap free agents, expecting some kind of stupid miracle.

I’ve said it many times - I’ve never seen an owner or GM in pro sports so completely comfortable with throwing whole seasons away. Then get mad when someone calls him on it.

That sums it up perfectly. This team is doomed like the multitude of ones before it, because the ego at the top believes he is always one step ahead of the competition. Now he wants to be frugal and make the challenge to succeed even more difficult. He buys into his own snake oil and thinks we all will be “all in” too because “he” had the responsibility for any success in the 90s.

You really think firing Mike would solve the problem?

I like Mike but accept that his time is about up. That's fine, that's the way this league is.

But this is more a personnel problem than a coaching one. They lost seven or eight important players and didn't even try to replace them.

And you think another coach could make Dak read defenses faster or run better or stop panicking? Or stop anyone's offense with the worst defensive line in the league?
Spot on.

I’m not McCarthy’s biggest fan either but firing him at this point does not change the trajectory of the team this season.

Even before we got hit with injuries, on paper, this team was obviously flawed from RB, to DT talent, and DL depth overall.

Jerry got up angered, and bit agitated yesterday with the realization likened to "Having a Maybach (franchise worth) with an oil leak and smoky exhaust (product on the field)". That's frustrating.

never forget that he once uttered "dead money" for coaches was an issue. And that's why Mike McCarthy is still here. Because Jerry is loathe to pay a head coach to not coach his team while having to pay for another guy to actually coach.

This team has a roster problem. It also has a coaching problem. A problem that could and should have been rectified right after the GB game. But Jerry is arrogant and even worse, Jerry has become cheap.

Changing coaches was the easiest and likely most impactful move he could have made, especially considering how he claimed over and over that there would be accountability after that GB game. Jerry punted on what should have been the easiest decision. If we can't expect him to do that right, than it's almost impossible to expect him to fix the roster, which is a far more complicated matter.
I suppose that's Jerry's rational about Zeke. If he's taking up $6m of Dead Cap, I may as well compound matters, give him more money in a vain attempt that he gives something of value on the field (as well as No.15 shirt sales).
I suppose every dollar and value for dollar counts.

He should have been fired in January.

At this point, just let him help run this thing into the ground.

Jerry made good choices when he bought the team because he was hungry.

Now Jerry is just spoiled and old.

I’m not saying MM is prime Belichik but he isn’t Redball either. He’s somewhere in between.

Your points about the Cowboys organization are spot on. Everyone who knows anything about football was worried about the Cowboys RB situation. And it’s a problem. They should have and could have done something to fix that.

Signing Dak will most likely end up being a poor decision. But I know reasonable minds can and do differ on Dak.

Having said that if you KNOW you are going to back up the Brinks truck for Dak, you have to consider that in team building. You can’t pay 8 players 80 percent of the cap and pay the rest nothing.

You have to flip some of the players you would like to keep for picks and or players to equalize the cap and give you draft picks to restock and reload.

Martin, Diggs, Lamb, Parsons, Bland, Steele and Lawrence do/will eat up a huge chunk of the cap. Steele is arguably the worst starter on the line and they just gave him a significant contract.

The problem is Jerry Jones ! Does NOT matter who is walking the sideline, the QB, RB, WR, whoever. He is the problem because HE sets the culture
The culture --IN Dallas ---- is be a marketing team plus No one is accountable. Jerry wants to be THE STAR and sell FOOLS GOLD which the fans continually buy each season. So validates what Jerry keeps doing.

McCarthy is one of 500 people who could coach this team.
That statement by Jerry was made about the team Jimmy built. And he was correct; Switzer won with that team and maybe wins 2 save for a horrendous non-PI call against Deion and his own stupid PF reaction. Now, I doubt any coach can win a SB now with this dysfunctional organization. Obviously, they haven’t since Jimmy’s team disbanded.

Right. Funny how Mike made Dak into a QB that led the league in TD passes and 2nd in MVP just last season. This season that same QB can’t hit the broad side of a barn and now his scheme is outdated?

The Oline and RB is to blame a lot.
2-5….nuff said.

Jerry should have fired McCarthy and hired a new head coach and assembled the new coaching staff made by the head coach. The new head coach should have had input on Dak and Cee Dee on whether to resign. With Jerry giving new contracts to Dak, Cee Dee and eventually Micah the new head coach is going to be operating with 40% of salary tied up in 3 players. There is no way out of the mess Jerry has created for a long time. Jerry is angry that the fans are not buying his spiel.
