Hey all,

As is known, I am currently working, which is why I am seldom around. I am currently in Ponchatoula, LA, abou 30 min north of NOLA.

I am here alone, with no coworkers, and am going to pull my hair our for no human contact (this is week 4).

I am going to go to the French Quarter tomorrow. I will probably end up at Harrahs, but I was wondering if anyone knew any alternatives. I know that the obvious is 'walk down the quarter, how can there not be anything to do,' but bare in mind I am here alone, and though I can be an outgoing person, I don't feel like barhopping alone.

Therefore - in this thread, please let me know what I must see to enjoy the town.

Thanks!
SRG

Drago's has the best broiled oyesters of anywhere I've eaten. They do a good job on steaks as well.

I haven't spent much time in the Quarter for several years so I can't tell you a good place to party.

I haven't been in a few years, but I loved going to Famous Door for the music. I could enjoy that place going by myself. Of course if you like raw oysters you must visit Felix's.

On my way back to Mississippi, I always stop at Middendorf's seafood restaurant off of 51. Fine eating there.

I've eaten at Middendorf's at the suggestion of several folks. The catfish was good, but I must say that overall, Middenforf's did not live up to it's reputation.

No thanks - I'm not interested in that sweet meat you people eat. 'The other white meat.'

I'll drive 4 hrs west and get some brisket somewhere.:D

Texan BBQ - Best eaten by itself

TN BBQ - Needs to be on a bun with cole slaw added onto it to make it edible.

:laugh2:

It's a pleasant sight after a bit of a drive. I love the shrimp poboy, myself. I wouldn't say it's the bees' knees, but it's a nice stop for a greasy spoon. I've always gotten a kick out of the fact that they built another one right next to the older one.
