Shout-out to Rod. I am now a true believer. This partial cast of no-names on the DL proved how vital good coaching is and the difference it can make. Jay Ratliff step aside, Hayden looks just fine with Hatcher by his side. And Spencer I am not gonna lose any more sleep over you either, Selvie is a play maker playing in your spot, with a sack, a recovered fumble and a pass break-up to go along with a solid showing at DE.

The level of intensity in our D was impressive, and the focus on turnovers paid off handsomely. With Rod and Monte this team looks a lot different from last year.

This defense looks more in place than in years past. We had some hiccups but to see all 11 play as a whole with relentless aggression was new to me. I was happy to see the explosion on the snap of the ball on a consistent basis.

I hear you man. I thought the D-line was for sure going to be a liability in this game, and these guys definitely deserve credit for stepping their game up and proving their value. Who knew Hayden and Selvie would play so well? Maybe now we know why the FO wasn't scrambling to sign some washed up veteran D lineman in a panic last week.

Once we get Spencer back we should be able to implement a nice rotation on the D line.

If Ratliff can come back and be effective that'll just be icing on the cake.

Wait, a positive thread in fan zone? I think you're on the wrong forum, buddy.

No, I totally agree. Everyone was complaining how depleted our DLine was going into the game, yet they were constantly making plays and putting pressure on Eli. "Oh but Wilson is going to run all over us!!" Uhh no...only 22 yards and a couple of lost fumbles. Really liked what I saw from Selvie, Cohen, and Hayden too. Good stuff all around.

Agreed. Can't wait to see this dline once Ratliff gets back, not to mention an impact DT that I'm sure they'll draft next year.

Heck I wouldn't be surprised if we cut someone like Weems or Arkin to get a DT and he turns into another solid Marinelli rushman!

Yeah he is really earning his money with this DL, cause on paper we should've been abused here. Coaching really does make a difference, and since there is no salary cap on coaches salaries, keep giving them big money Jerry.

Had my doubts about the change big time, liked the 3-4, but the coaching boost along with the change was worth it.

Nickle rush with Ware, Hatcher, Selvie and Spencer could do some good things.

Although I am a big fan of his work, I am not about to place all my trust in him after just one game. :D

Let's see how the D is playing after six weeks before getting out the anointing oil.

I thought coaching didn't matter. How foolish I was.

Before the game I told my buddy who watches with me I thought for sure the injuries on the D-line were going to mean they got no pressure and couldn't force turnovers, which is what this defense is all about and it was going to be the thing that made it hard for them to win.

Suddenly, turnovers everywhere and it's the offense who can't score points off the turnovers. So yeah, Marinelli has to get a TON of props for getting the D-Line to play the way they did.

I think we did a solid job upfront, limiting the run greatly and getting a little pressure on Eli.

The biggest concern by far was the, at times, complete lack of coverage by the corners, in particular Claiborne. The Giants receivers were finding space so easily in the middle of the field and on slants that it was almost at times shocking, especially in those 3 late game TD drives by the Giants.

You just cannot let the opposition score in less then 3 minute drives 3 times in the second half, no matter how much you are ahead.

I'm giving credit to Rod too, just not as you are. Selvie and Hayden were clearly decent players already, Rod and Kiffen can just spot 'em better
