In The 1st Round of the 2019 NFL Draft The Dallas Cowboys Select Amari Cooper

Cooper was great for us after the trade. I am most impressed with his route running, stop and go and the separation he gets...
It was a great trade and better than getting an unknown quantity in the draft-Still get him for the same amount of time-just cost you more...

However, in the long term I would have rather used this years first to trade for a first next year to be in line to take Trevor Lawrence or Tua

Pipe dream

He got traded before the extension even started and what 5/90m turned into 5/77m for ARI because NY ate so much just to trade him
we talking OBJ? thats who im referring too and OBJ did NOT get traded his extension was 2018 and he played for 21mil for 10games basically..

So that plays into the calculation. The value of the draft isn't just acquiring talent. It's acquiring cheap talent that let's you spend elsewhere. Obviously.

And that rookie you signed could bust out. There are no guarantees.

Can you say that about Cooper? Does he have a guarantee to be a stud player?

This notion of cap space is ridiculous. Do you truly believe drafting where Dallas does, they will get a stud? What are the odds? And the argument every year by fans is, "Let's trade down and get more picks." Which kind of makes the who draft thing an exercise in rolling the dice for success.

Yes there was a safety there. And this team needs a safety.

But tell me about the WR's this year in this draft who would come in and post 1000 yards this next season. Gallup will be coming close, and it is his second year. Now factor in all the one year contracts Dallas has and this was a win.

Dallas got to test drive their first round pick for a half season under real NFL conditions. Not a combine. Not practice. But on the field under fire.

And there is a chance this team could be a real player in post season. This may be the best chance Dallas has had in getting to and being successful getting to the NFC CHampionship game.

What rookie would you want to throw in your chips after an off season where you do the rent a player thing and rely on a rookie to be a stud and cover his position?

But you see it your way. If being unhappy about having a top flight receiver because he commands a bigger pay check than Johnny College, well enjoy your day.
