If you try to draft backups, you end up with the 1995 draft. We should try to find starters at positions of need. For example, if there's a starting-caliber ILB available, you take him over a backup-caliber offensive lineman, even if it's not your greatest need.

So much of it will depend upon what happens with Canty and if Ratliff is moved to DE.

I could see a NT in round 2 or a DE or a guard/center.

Aren't there any quality free agents available in the NT, SS, ILB, G positions?

I would freaking love to get Haynesworth!!!

He was franchised last year by the Titans and he signed a 1 yr deal with a clause that if he made the probowl then the Titans could not franchise him again.

Thus, he will be an unrestricted free agent!!!

I know he tried to cave in Gurode's face, but the guy plays flat out balls to the wall every down. I would love to have him on the defensive line.

Of course he is going to want $75 million and with Ware needing a new deal it might be too expensive for Jerry.

just draft the best players, cant go wrong with that

probably wont be drafting any RB's, TE's (other than late rd as replacement for Curtis perhaps) or CB's, but otherwise most other positions we could see additions.

Just go with the BPA. Neither a safety nor a lineman will likely be starting next season. Just continue to add talent.

IDK what O Line spot would you want to address?

starting center.....someone who can actually lead the OL, snap the ball correctly and promptly to Romo, even in the shotgun. Someone who can audible the blocking assignments for blitz pickup.

Jonathan Luigs comes to mind immediately.

My ideal scenario would be to get a LB or S in the 2nd and have Luigs slip to our 3rd round pick.

A hybrid OL in the later rds that can play both Center and Guard; a big guy who is raw and needs work but has a lot of potential.
I think we are OK at starting guard with Holland and Kosier going to fight it out. Tackle: well we have the Hotel and Colombo signed for several years, so starting is taken care of. The backup situation.....UGH. Looks like both Free and McQ are not going to make it. Now if one of them can make a passable guard then keep him, otherwise good bye. We HAVE to replace the proctologist. I would be looking hard for a top safety if possible in either the draft or FA. I think HAMLIN can be the other guy but we need more then Roy or Watkins back there with him. Henry- I don't know.
A really BIG NT would be nice as well. Also find a another 3-4 DE since we really only have 2.

DE we have Ratliff (if we find a NT), Spears, Canty, Hatcher, Bowen, and Dixon on the practice squad. Personally, I would like to get Spears to add 10-15 lbs of muscle and become a DT for us.

Frankly I do not think we will be able to keep both Spears and Canty. I hope so but I doubt it. And to be honest Hatcher and Company have not shown that they can be starters. So I want better. the Rat for sure will be taking a spot but I want one other guy at least better then the rest we have now.

Backup QB, Backup QB. NT, SS,SS, ILB

Good point...Considering how our offense hit a brick wall once Romo went down, I think we'll need to play more attention to the back QB spot than in years past. Whether that's via FA or the draft, or possibly both, we do need to look more closely at the back QB spot this off season.

I have always advocated having a good QB prospect in the wings, studying the playbook, throwing 10,000 footballs through a tire, studying film and being mentored and groomed for when the starting QB goes down.

As we saw this year it can happen with in the blink of an eye.

I'd rather not talk about the draft right now for several reasons.

One, that means the season is truly over.

Two, we have traded a first and third away for a player we can't figure out how to use yet. That takes a bit of the excitement away.

If Chase Daniel is available when we draft then I would take him. If not then I grab the best safety available. After that, pretty much get guys who can provide depth and potential starts for the offensive line.

I'd go build the offensive line and then pick up a quality safety in the 2nd or 3rd round.

We have the worst luck drafting offensive linemen of late. Fortunately, I think Dallas already has some talented depth along the O line - but injuries have robbed them.

Football is won in the trenches - so I don't have any problems with drafting an O lineman high. Dallas already has an nice assortment of quality skill position players. Need to find a serviceable backup to Romo but they can do that in the FA market.

false start-Flo: big contract, long contract extention, age:)bang2: )
Kosier,Holland,Proctor: how will be the starter? how much
J.J should he pay?
Gourode: big contract, bad snaps:banghead: , not exactly my type of center!!!
Bigg: big contract, he's not young but he's the best OLman
Colombo:just signed :bang2: , big extension, big bucks(?)

Potentially this group is the best of NFL but is UNDISCIPLINATE

how much $ J.J should spend for young, high pick, unexpirence fresh legs?????
My draft: FS and/or SS, NT(300+lbs), QB, OL if, Hudson Houck dont belive in MQ,Free,Marten
