In today's NFL economy, the Cowboys must consider becoming bigger spenders if they want to keep up

Not bigger, smarter. Quit spending big only on CBs and WRs. We lose because of our D trenches, but yet we focus on getting more CBs.
We just spent big money on Osa though…..I’m not entirely sure how I feel about it on one hand I was for it because I didn’t want to create a hole….but at the same time I want better interior play.

Every loves sucking up to the winners. We have our Eagles and 49er's crowd on here. Though no one mentioned SF last year and their 6-11 record, worse than Dallas at 7-10.
No one seems to have talked SF up this year, yet.
Don't take those remarks so serious.

Who cares that the Eagles pushed money into void years. They will have to pay for it at some point. They basically bought a SB win. Which is ok, we all would love for Jerry to do this. Get us a SB soon. They fear doing it for some reason.

I think Jerry and Son, are trying to sell the fans, by not overspending or spending at all in FA to get these type of players. They are building a team for a long term run. Such as KC has done. Though KC uses FA as well.
Building through the draft is fine. But there are contracts due after 4 years and you can't keep all those players. You need to spend in FA to fill the gaps with top players, not tier 3 players.

Same old song and dance, my friend ... Aerosmith ...until proven otherwise.
This year was night and day from last year at this time. Will be interesting to see how it unfolds. Expect no miracles. However ...
Miracles out of Nowhere ... Kanas .... have happened before.
same old song and dance defending thirty years of mediocrity

As long as its the Big and Little Enos show nothing will really change

when the over riding priority is NOT winning but the bottom line of a financial ledger, thirty years of mediocrity is what you get

The boys need to spend SMARTER but we do not have the intelligence in the Front Office to do so
One senile old fart and his worthless son

It’s like building a home where you scrimp on the foundation and install the most expensive tiles you can find.
Well, fancy tiles sell the house. Nobody cares about the foundation bc you can't see it. Same thing in Dallas. Jerry spends his money on flash positions bc those sell tickets and get us on TV. He doesn't care about the foundation of the team. " We got some guys in the middle. Great. Let's go find a WR!" is pretty close to the organizations football philosophy.

We need a GM, HC, and a QB
Those 3 items have kept us from super bowls. Money has never been an issue and it's not now.

San Fran is allowed to have a season with a 6-11 considering they have been to multiple championship games and SBs .

Just saying.

Aerosmith? Janie's got a gun?

A little severe maybe?

Ya know what’s gonna happen when Philly finally pays the big price that Stephen claims is coming?….they are going to draft very high and probably find their next franchise QB and rebuild the team, all while shining what’s likely to be yet another trophy or two.

Meanwhile staying relevant every year so Netflix wants to make films about Jerry’s greatness is the plan in Dallas. I have zero doubt Philly laps them on a rebuild unless serious changes in philosophy are made.

Sad truth and you all know it to one degree or another.
Yup. They'll tear it down, trade some vets and suck for a year or 2. Then back to contention. That's how it works, Jerry either doesn't understand that or won't admit it.

There are exceptions, but very few. Most super bowl teams have some studs drafted from when they sucked. And many have some extra draft picks from trading away valuable players. One of the big reasons Pats stayed in contention for so long was trading away vets for value. Yes it sucks, and no one wants to, but if you want to be in super bowl contention it's almost a necessity.

If The eagles keep pushing money into void years, the league may address it sooner rather than later.

Consider this. What if the Cowboys go all in and spend money like the Eagles pushing it all into future voidable years and they don't win a Super Bowl or NFC championship? Maybe Jerry's regime just isn't very good a building teams, or at least not good enough.

There is more than enough evidence to show that the Cowboys front office has to be willing to spend a little bit more.

The Dallas Cowboys aren’t going to win the Super Bowl this season. At least that’s the sentiment of the oddsmakers, as ESPN has them ranked 19th at 50-to-1 odds this season. The perception of this football team is pretty low. We get it. They had struggles last year, they have a new coaching staff this year, and Jerry Jones is running the team, which many would consider a kiss of death.

The Cowboys have their work cut out for them, but are things really this bad? Why are they so far behind the other good teams in the league?

We discussed the great advantage the Philadelphia Eagles have given themselves by how Howie Roseman operates and how it’s a stark contrast to the Cowboys. The Eagles aggressively use void years to spend money now and push out costs into later years. Philly is on an island with how they use this:

  1. Philadelphia Eagles $452 million
  2. Cleveland Browns $248 million
  3. New Orleans Saints $164
  4. San Francisco 49ers $138
  5. Detroit Lions $94

Well it seems they might have turned that corner
