Inability To Run Late

I rarely start new posts, but I'm really excited about this team.

An inability to run the ball with a big lead lead to huge problems. We couldn't run clock, couldn't pick up short yardage and it was very frustrating to watch the running game disappear. How often were we in two TEs?

Give credit to the Jets, though. Their D played great, both did in fact!

was it our OL didn't block well enough for the Running game to milk some clock or was it the Jets are stout up front ? it was a concern of mine. I have never felt real secure with Felix Jones back there and being able to grind it out when needed. I feel he can't make his own holes and will go only as far as the OL let's him. I'm not sure on this but in key situations we have to grind it out some.

Not many teams can run against the Jets. The Jets were third in rushing defense last year.

But, what did we have? 45 yards approximately? I just know that the Garrett lost faith (or something) in the running game. But he should have tried to get more. I think this signals that the OL is pretty bad, that's why we were in 2 TE sets so much yesterday.

Ironically, people are crying why didn't we run three straight times late on the goal line. Last year, we did that, and people were asking why didn't we pass in that situation. :-/

On a positive note, this team is a lot more competitive than I thought they would be!!

We basically have three RBs who look like clones to each other. None of them is a short yardage runner. I still can not figure out why we drafted Murray when we had Felix and Choice.

I did miss Marian Barber last night.

Frustrating to think Tim Hightower was available...oh well. It's not so much the runners as it is the O-line.

That 3rd and 1 with Choice was pretty big.

Choice looked like he was running in Molasses I do not know if it was from being injured almost all preseason or not but when i saw it was choice in and not Jones or Murray I knew we where not getting the first down

he needs to be replaced with a Short Yardage back for those tough 3 and 1's. I'm fine with Felix and Murray they are similar but in the long run Murray might be better but we do need someone like a Payton Hillis to use for short yardage and I think that person would simply take Tashard Choice's spot.

They blitzed every single down there wasn't much running room. Felix still made some good runs, and "Everyone's favorite Back up Tard Choice" you know the most reliable RB as one poster claims" is Garbage. Those backups can't even spell Felix it's a shame.

I think your selling Jones very short with that Comment. He has been a stud for us and has not shown that it won't continue. I do not see Murray unseating Jones noway. He is only 24 years old, and when he is not in the game the running game sputters out.

This can be a BS stat. Bills didn't run. Pats could barely run, and the Dolphins tried...but beat up, old and no OL says it all. That is 6 games right there.

I'm excited about our team too, but the running game appears to be problematic.

Granted we faced probably the best defense we'll face all year.
