Yes, the coaching has been subpar for years. I think most have realized for several years that we weren't winning a super bowl as Garrett as coach. It is a shame our Owner either couldn't see this or didn't want to see this.

While the coaching has not been good, as the offseason gets going soon lets not don't blame everything on the coaching staff. We need to be honest with ourselves. Number one, our front office is not good enough. They had a real nice run with first and second round picks for a few years, but that is the exception, not the rule. A few poor drafts can deplete your young prospects quick, and it appears we are in a two year window of poor drafts. That needs to change...and quick. The draft is just one way to improve the roster and I think you see our lack of depth every year that the Cowboys lack the skill to build the roster like other top teams.

Second, our players are not good enough. Either our depth is poor or the guys we have given second contracts to are not playing to their $. A new coach may improve performances of these guys, but we need to be honest that the national talking point on how talented we are is a mirage. Dallas' talent is overvalued every year by some glitz, and this team is no different. It has big names who don't play to their reputation for the most part.

So as we celebrate a new coach, lets also remember the front office and the players are not good enough either. If you can't admit that, I think you are fooling yourself and this organization will not be a serious super bowl contender for another 25 years.

This is the big debate. I don't agree. There are definitely weaknesses among the players, but if you put Andy Reid, Sean Payton, or Bill Belichek at the head of THIS team, they would be in the championship game every year.

Jones family at a minimum has to be removed from football ops. That will never happen so...... And BTW wait till John Stephen Jones miraculously makes the roster in a few years because the FO sees the next Doug Flutie

The talent is over rated on this team, but not by so much, that good coaching would make them better and take them further.
With good coaching this team would have clinched the division in November.

The coaching sucks and cost us several games this season. But the players suck too.

The defense underachieved this season. The offensive line struggled to run block. Zeke had a bad first half of the season. Dak had a bad second half of the season. Worst special teams in the NFL.

Perfect storm really.

I don't know how you make this argument, when your starting team got beat by a bunch of replacements. Coaching which includes scheming for the opponent, preparation, half time adjustments, boosting your team moral, can make even the back ups perform at a high level, which was on display yesterday. When it takes you almost an entire season to realize your kicker misses critical field goals, then there is definitely something wrong with things on the top. Watch this same team perform at a much higher level with a field general rather than a clapping clown.

A good HC can turn decent players into good players, and the good players into great players. That’s all this team needs.

Let the HC come in and dictate what he wants as a philosophy. That’s what wrong now. The “Fight” and “ RKG” strategy is stale and has failed.

The essence of the debate is, "Can Jerry remain as GM and yet hire a coach who has sufficient power and authority to be a great coach?" The answer to that is, "It depends: How badly does Jerry want to win?"
