There is a lot of Zebra bias. Once they see an OL hold someone, they continue to watch for more. Holding and PI can probably be called every play in the NFL. I say let them play and just call the egregious stuff and those that actually impact plays.
I really hate penalties that do not impact the play at all. For instance, holding penalties on the opposite side of the field from where a running play went.

As good as Martin is (and he’s really good), he’s not the GOAT. That title belongs to Larry Allen and probably always will. And not just for the Cowboys, but for the entire NFL.

Zack Martin carving out a ROH and HOF career reminiscent of a former Dallas Cowboys Offensive Lineman that previously wore the jersey No. 70:
Rayfield Wright - OT 1967-79.
He passed away this past spring - April 7, 2022.
His Alma Mater - Fort Valley State University - lowered their campus flags to half-mast to honor Wright.

Yeah, not buying it. Zack Martin is the gold standard counter-evidence exhibit against the referee bias against the Cowboys 'spiracy theory. If refs really did hate the Cowboys and make bad calls against them, Zack would have more penalties. So now I guess I'll hear that Zack is the son of a ref and they give him an exemption to the plan. Lol.

He's not just one of the greatest players in Cowboy history, he's one of the best players in NFL history. Shame that like Ware, Witten, Tyron, his career will be wasted by an old drunk who cares more about his own ego than winning.
I think the "wasted career" argument is ridiculous. Martin, Ware, Witten, Romo, etc. all had hall of fame caliber careers. They didn't win a title. It happens. Martin has made $60M in his career so far, he's a lock for the HOF. If you ask him in 10 years if his career was wasted I'd venture to say that he wouldn't think so. Times have changed and as long as players get paid, that's what they care about now. Winning a superbowl is icing on the cake. But the cake is pretty damn good without it.

There are many great players that never won a Super Bowl. Marino, Tomlinson, Tarkenton, Moss, etc. The list is long. Very long.

I mentioned none of this. Zach's reputation precedes him and Zebras probably don't look his way. As for the departed Connor he was a focal point. Martin probably got less flags bc they didn't need to be look at him. Connor gave them all the yellow ammo they needed.

Didn't say you mentioned the 'spiracy part but when it comes to reputation, Zack didn't get a good one from anyone until he played a while in the league. Same for Connor. So unless the OL is beating up on others in games committing personal fouls I doubt refs have the same memories of guys who hold all the time and just watch them closer. So I think you're using your logic from not being involved while watching on TV like the rest of us to guys who are in the heat of the moment and need to make calls in a split second right in front of the action. They aren't thinking about who has a reputation for what.

From the NFL top 100 video.

In 2021, Zach Martin had zero penalties for the FIFTH time in his 8 year career.

That's cool!
With the penalties we been having, it's a necessity.
Maybe he could coach the rest of the oline?

Lol. Disagreeing with good counter-points is now "hitting a nerve?" Self-delusion is now firmly embedded in the people of this nation. Am I "hating on you" too? Lol. How about addressing my points? Or is this your exit stage left strategy?

I’m going to get crap for this but here goes — if Zack had Larry’s freakish strength, with his football smarts and discipline, he’d arguably be the greatest offensive lineman in NFL history.

I don't disagree, since Larry was the best offensive lineman in history. To have Zach Martin so close is just plain lucky for Dallas.

The problem there is that the players would get better at disguising their infractions and you'd probably end up with very few calls even though there are very many infractions. You have to keep the players honest and be strict but unbiased. I've seen many claims of bias and yours is probably one I agree with. They aren't necessarily looking because of the helmet, they're looking based on player reputation.
