I had to look up this info for myself. Since I have it, I'll post it for everyone.

I originally thought he was a free agent after the season but he is not a free agent until after 2019.

Draft Report:
As a junior in 2014, he was the winner of the Biletnikoff Award, which goes to the nation's most outstanding receiver and was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy. He was a unanimous first-team All-American and was SEC Offensive Player of the Year. Led the nation in receptions (124) and finished second in yards (1,727) and touchdown receptions (16). Played in 40 games in his three-year Alabama career, starting 30 games and hauling in 31 touchdown receptions.

STRENGTHS
Asked to become a dominant offensive threat and did so. Accelerates to top speed and stays there at the top of his routes. Consistently able to get defenders leaning before breaking them off in the other direction. Owned the post route. Play speed includes a second gear. Good feel for traffic on crossers and is able to adjust and avoid the big hit. Unafraid to work the middle and secures the tough catch in traffic. Sticks it and gets it out of breaks, creating instant separation. Not content to sit in zone as covered target. Works to make himself presentable to quarterback. Competes hard and makes big plays in big games. Worked outside and from slot and varies his route speed. Tracks the ball well and has burst to run under and finish for six. Caught absolutely everything during NFL Scouting combine workout.

WEAKNESSES
Needs to finish routes. Will stop or occasionally adjust route, putting quarterback in danger of an interception. Can improve use of body to shield defenders from the ball. Run blocking can improve. Could use a little more fire in that department. Focus drops have been an issue at times, dropping 13 passes over the last two seasons.

DRAFT PROJECTION
Round 1 (top 10)

SOURCES TELL US
"Amari is super athletic, very fluid and highly skilled as a route runner and hands catcher. Because of his reserved demeanor and similar ability, I compared him to Marvin Harrison during the season." -- Former NFL GM and current Reese's Senior Bowl Executive Director Phil Savage

NFL COMPARISON
Marvin Harrison

BOTTOM LINE
Won't dazzle with blazing speed or outrageous size, but is good in both categories. Complete receiver with game-changing ability to win downfield. Has the skill and twitch to be a consistent, high-volume target in the short and intermediate games with the ability to produce against any coverage. Cooper won't be able to run roughshod over NFL safeties like he did in college, but he should be able to help a passing game improve quickly.

“Cooper led the league in drops (18) and drop rate (20.0 percent) in his rookie season (2015), but then seemed to get past the issue in 2016, dropping only four passes. In 2017, Cooper again led the league in drop rate (17.2 percent). Not only are these numbers bad, but they’re historically bad. Since 2007, there have only been three players to see at least 100 targets and post a drop rate of 17 percent or worse: Braylon Edwards (2007 and 2008), Greg Little (2011) and Cooper (2015 and 2017).”

He should be able to give Dak an excuse.

I reviewed NFL game footage of Cooper.

I'm generally not a fan of trading for veterans that require a big contract. I originally thought he was a free agent after this season; however, after I realized he is under for next season, I feel much better about the trade.

He is 24 and has as much or more talent than any WR the Cowboys could draft in 2019. The only issue is that that they only get 1-9/16 seasons before he is a free agent vs 5 for a draft pick.

He is very good. I don't know if he is great or just very good, but definitely very good.

He could easily become the best Cowboys WR since Mike Irvin.

Imagine if Beasley was a muscled-up 6-1, 210+ WR.

Cooper runs great routes and can muscle CBs. His short-area quickness is like Beasley except he is 6-1, 210+.

His best asset might be his terrific burst out of breaks or when alluding tackers.

He has 10" hands (People raved about how Dez had huge hands, but Dez hand size is 9-3/4" vs 10" for Cooper.

The only question seems to be focus drops.

At a minimum, defenses will not be putting 10 in the box to stop Zeke anymore.

Dak needs to step it up then. This was supposedly a Dak friendly offense and look how that turned out. Now we’re out spending big money on a #1 when they said all offseason one wasn’t needed.

I think he’s got a good chance to help a lot. His burst, quickness and technique allow him to win routes early, just like Beasley, which is what Dak needs. And he’s going to pull those safeties back for both Beasley and Zeke. If we give Dak protection this could work.

Focus drops? He focuses on dropping the ball? Hell, sign me up. That's like "yes, officer, I meant to knock that light pole down. Might even do that 12 more times in the next 24 months".

Thanks X, an insightful addition...I'm getting excited to watch this one develop a chemistry with the Cowboys.

This just happened last game or the week before if i'm not mistaken.

If this works out then it not only helps Dak but also Zeke. If it helps Zeke then it also helps Dak by putting the offense in more favorable third down situations.

Yeah it did. He flat quit on a route while the defenders kept playing.

Thought so. From what I remember seeing the safety was coming to meet him in the middle so he stopped, boom int! Maybe it's different here but if he continues playing gutless it's gonna be a crazy in big D.

Im excited to watch Cooper AND Gallup.
good move...if Coop were in the '019 draft,he'd be a top 10 pick...we get him and still have our 2nd,3rd,two-4ths,5th and 7th Rd Picks...I'll take him ALL DAY.
