Go see it. The movie was amazing. Tarantino fans won't be disappointed.

The movie was great and deserving of the high praise.

Brad Pitt gave one of his best performances.

I like Brad Pitt when he's in these types of performances

I thought he was great in Fight Club, and this is the same type of dark humor/cynical role

I thought that Pitt and B.J. Novak were both poor casting choices, especially Novak. The first 3/4ths of the movie was spot on, top notch, great film making. The ending just wasn't up to par with the rest of the movie and in some cases it just flat out didn't make sense. Good, but not great movie that was over-hyped, like most all Tarantino flicks.

The acting was good all around but Brad Pitt carried the movie.

I also thought QT did a great job of matching scenes with the appropriate background music.

I thought the latter half of the movie, especially the ending was the best part.

Star Trek was the best movie I had seen all year, up until I saw District 9 and I believe Basterds is just as good.

Wow, we have completely opposite views on the movie. :laugh2:

I'd put Basterds behind both Star Trek and District 9, as well as a couple of others.

Overall, I believe District 9 and Star Trek were stronger, but as far as entertainment, Basterds is right up there with them.

I think because of QT's different style and the movie ended differently then what most people expected, it will seem like a disappointment to most.

I also loved the fact that QT kept everything in the native tongue. I hate watching movies about "insert non-english speaking country" and all the actors speak English.

btw guys, I'm debating whether to rent Valkyrie on iTunes or not

any of you 2 seen it? and what did you think of it?

I did like that aspect. In the opening scene, when the German officer asks to start talking in English, I was disappointed because it just seemed like a cop out to get around speaking French. It actually played into the plot very well though.

I haven't seen it, but I heard pretty good things about it from friends whose opinions I trust.

It was actually pretty good, despite the fact that Tom Cruise is playing the lead. It was quite suspenseful and does a good job of explaining the historical events in which it portrays.

As I stated already in this thread, I am a big fan of making sure the language is consistent with the language spoken by the people who are being portrayed. The movie could have been alot more powerful, had the actors been German or the language was German.

I still shake my head at Jude Law's english accent when he was playing a Russian soldier in Enemy at the Gate :bang2: .

Felt like a made for tv movie, interesting like a history channel documentary but not worthy of a cinematic experience.

I saw this last night and I thought Pitt was ok and he definitely didn't carry the movie. Melanie Laurent(mega hot) and Christoph Waltz(I think that is his name) as Hanz were the stars of this movie. Some very tense scenes and in true Tarantino fashion a lot of dialogue building up those scenes.

Big fan of the movie. It's been a good two weeks with this and District 9 last week. That first scene was about as good a scene as I've seen from Tarantino. Christoph Walz is a shoe in for a nomination. I could've done without Myers and Novak.

I keep waiting for one to not live up to the hype.

Still waiting.......
